  • Ready, set - PAUSE; Help!

    Hey hey
I'm extremely new to this site, and still kind've newish to the PinballFX2 world itself. I have a few quick questions for all of you more experienced players, and would be unbelievably grateful for any helpful feedback pertaining to them.

    So... drumroll?

    Ahem:

    • Which view is the easiest to keep up with? I've given each of the 7 views a a shot and find the ones that move with the ball to be a bit confusing, and View6 leaves it hard to make out any detail on the table. Any suggestions?

    • Is there any way to control the flippers other than the triggers/top buttons? I'm getting major carpel tunnel from all the repetitive finger-pushing.

    • What's the best upper/lower flipper sensitivity value to use? Does increasing the number make it harder or easier to hit the spots you aim for?

    • How and when is nudging the table useful?

    • What the heck is a deathsave?

    Secrets of the Deep
    - I'm having trouble hitting the magnet that initiates the crane and even when I do, (accidentally, o'course) I still can't control the frickin thing. Throw me some kibble?

    Biolab
    - Reflex Upgrade: how the hell do you do it? Well, I know how to do it, I just fail with flying colors every time I try it. Multiballs are death for me. How can I go for the combos when all of my concentration is on NOT losing my balls? (Pun intended) *Any feedback on this one will earn you a 2 year supply of gratitude.*

1.) I personally prefer View 3 myself, but your mileage will vary.

    2.) Unfortunately, no!

3.) I just go with the default.

4.) To save the ball from draining, to get the ball to the other flipper or to preform a death save. There are several YouTube videos out there, that show nudging and flipper techniques. Example

5.) A death save is when the ball drains, but you are able to recover it with a nudge. Example

      1. View 3 is kind've too close for me, so I only use it for certain tables. I usually use either 4 or 6, but I still find myself flipping through the options from time to time

      2. Flying potato nuts.

      3. Yeah, I've decided it's best to just leave it like it was.

      4. I need more nudge practice. I still suck at it.

      5. Got it! But, again, I suck at anything nudge-related.

      Oh!, and
      Thanks for responding

Tip: When doing nudge passes or death saves, make you nudge upward (push up on the analog stick) instead of side to side.

I can rarely do a death save myself. However, the nudge passes are really easy to do once you get the hang of it.

That's what I usually do. But I get panicky and nudge+flip both flippers+press launch button all at the same time.

I'm still not sure how to slow the ball down or gently flip to where the ball doesn't go flying into oblivion. I'll trap it in the hopes of a more precise, slow shot, but when I try to be all soft-like in flipping, the ball still gets its zoom on. Any tips on that?

It's not easy to slow down the ball with soft flipper hits. That's because in real pinball machines, the flipper buttons aren't pressure sensitive. In other words, the flipper is always going to hit the ball with same amount of force no matter how gently you hit the button.

The best way to slow down the ball is by hitting certain parts, such as the ramps or targets.
