  • A list of random questions

I love this game, but I wish there was more explanation of how the various mechanics work.

    1) Is there any difference between wood and stone when it comes to material durability? I would think wood would be less durable but perhaps the difference is just in the art. Can anyone confirm?

    2) It seems that some projectiles do bonus damage to buildings above and beyond what their damage stats say. For example, the Morningstar seems to do less damage to buildings than the Tri-Stone, even though its actual damage value is higher. Is this the case? If so, which projectiles get this bonus?

    3) Do the Norse have any fast flag grabbing unit like the Knights do (the Bear Rider doesn't count, it seems barely faster than the Berserker). This seems like a big gap in the Norse forces if they do not have a unit to fill this role.

    4) What is the point of the Druid? Does his attack do area of effect damage?

    5) What is the point of the Crystal Beam and Death Ray? They seem very lackluster and I don't see what they bring to the table.

    6) What are the best counters to Dragons and Griffins? Almost no spells can be used on them, they are hard to hit with the ballista, and it seems no other units attack them (do Archers, Hammer Throwers, etc?)

As I said, this is a fantastic game, but the instructions and overall documentation of the mechanics was very poorly communicated. Any help in understanding these things would be appreciated.

    5) Crystal beam freezes everything in a straight line. Once frozen a single hit from ANYTHING will insta kill the target (doesn't matter if it's a troll or what), The crystal beam followed by a death ray through all of them will wipe a whole line. However you don't have to use death ray to kill targets. Death ray alone is lack lusted, I agree. But does do damage all the way through in a line. Btw, the Viking freeze spell does the same freeze effect.

    6) Spread shot ballista stuff (splitting ice, etc) or the mind control ones just wait for them to fly right in your face. They will get there eventually. Point blank ballista shot is ez.

Thanks. Does anyone have any answers to the other questions? Could the developers chime in here?

My interest revolves around versus mode.

        Hi,

Good questions, let me try to answer them:

        1) Yes, there is a difference. Stone is more durable than wood.

        2) Physical damage has other factors than the damage stat: the speed, the mass and the shape of the projectile are also count. You should experiment with the projectiles to find out how to make the best use of them.

        3) It's true that capturing the flag is easier with the Kingdom side. The Vikings have other strengths, though.

        4) Yes, druid's have ranged attacks with area damage. They can be very effective against enemy troops.

        5) Crystal Beam should be used in combination with other weapons to make it really effective. Death Ray is intended to be an accurate weapon for eliminating the most threatening enemy troops.

        6) Novice players can easily eliminate flying enemies by using homing eagle/owl. Advance players could also use Potion of Conversion/Turkey Elixir, but those require precise aiming. Using explosives could also be effective, but maybe they are a bit too expensive for the task.

I hope I could help, have fun!

Awesome thanks for the responses Tamas.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider the Vikings' strength to be? Their troops seem generally stronger and heavier hitting, but there is no list of stats for me to easily compare and confirm this suspicion.

There is nothing like blasting a dragon right out of the air, I managed to do it a couple times this weekend... seriously awesome!

In general, their troops are more durable and powerful; they have more attack magics; and their projectiles are more powerful too.
