  • Xbox One Couch Co-op not working

I purchased Castle Storm: Definitive Edition last weekend and was excited to begin playing the couch co-op portion of the game with my boyfriend. However, all modes under the "Multiplayer" option do not work for us on the Xbox One. This problem occurs when the second player hits A to join and goes to the sign in gamertag overlay. After choosing a profile it goes back the screen before signing in, but still says "Press A to join..." and the "Next" button is still grayed out.

I searched the forum for any other potential users having this issue and it seems I'm the only one. In short, multiplayer is unplayable for me at this point in all of the modes below.

    Multiplayer > Local > Versus
    Multiplayer > Local > Survival
Multiplayer > Local > Hero Survival
Multiplayer > Online > Versus > Ranked Match
Multiplayer > Online > Versus > Quick Match
Multiplayer > Online > Versus > Custom Match
Multiplayer > Online > Survival > Ranked Match
Multiplayer > Online > Survival > Quick Match
Multiplayer > Online > Survival > Custom Match
Multiplayer > Online > Hero Survival > Ranked Match
Multiplayer > Online > Hero Survival > Quick Match
Multiplayer > Online > Hero Survival > Custom Match

I've only had one other report of this so far, but I will have the team check it out again. Are you logging in player 2 as a guest or with a gamertag?

When it says "Press A to join...", are you pressing A on the second controller?

      Are you using Kinect login?

What kind of user profiles are you using (Gold, Silver, Guest?)

Has the controllers been updated? (http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Ho...One_Controller)

        same here

I have the same Problem. I have a german Xbox. I have a gold account, my son has a silver account, but uses my Gold account(family gold share) on the xbox. the second player can't press green(Button A), the Splitscreen game can't be started.

edit: Controllers are updated, i have Kinect Login activated.

I'm suffering the same issue, 'press a to join' and no way to bypass.

Bought this game again for the xbox one based on the fun times had on 360, rather disheartening to see that the issue has been known for some time already and no fix..

Any known solution or ETA to fix?

PS no kinect login, updated controllers, gold and silver account.

              Temporary Workaround

For those who are having this issue (as I am), a temporary workaround is to have the second person join using a guest account. I have noticed that whenever you click to start a local game player 1's gamertag is above their team (default blue). But, after having a second player login to join, player 2's gamertag replaces player 1's gamertag. In essence player 1 switches gamertags instead of another player being added to the game.

              EDIT:

I forgot to mention that I originally tried this with non-updated controllers, then updated controllers and tried again. Also my account is a gold account whereas player 2's account is silver. "Kinect Login" is enabled for my account only, but I have also tried using no "Kinect Login".

I am having this same issue. Does the game not support multiple profiles?

It does, though we haven't been able to reproduce this issue in order to find out what is causing it.

I am having the very same issue, For there not to be a fix this far after release (and I understand it is now being offered as a GwG title), is a bit absurd. Customer should be expecting the game to work properly and without having to jump through hoops to get the game working the way it was meant to.

                      Same Problem XboxOne Couch Co-op

I have the same issue where we cant sign in with 2 different accounts for the multiple player.

                      One account is Xbox Gold
                      Other account is not -

Also i can confirm the only way to play is with 1 account sign in and the other being a guests.

But my girlfriend and I would really like to play our own builds of talents etc. Would like to know if this has been solved or any form of update.

I have updated the controllers and still no luck. And i have no Kine-ct.

Can anyone confirm that it DOES work with there Xbox one? Maybe we just have to keep uninstalling/re installing until we have a good one?

                      Thank You.

I am able (and have been for a few days) to play couch co-op without any issues. Xbox gamertags are my own (Gold) and my daughters (which we made the same day we started playing on the 3rd). Hers is not gold.

However, online coop with the spinning kogs of death is unplayable. Regardless of time spent.

A couple steps to help troubleshoot this issue:

-Please update Xbox One system software, make sure to have the latest one (currently: OS version: 6.2.12710.0 Release date: 4/6/2015)
-Do a hard reset (turn off the system, remove power plug, reconnect power plug, turn on the system); change the INSTANT ON option to ENERGY SAVING
-sign in with the user who purchased the game (P1) while in the HOME menu. Sign in with the other player on the second controller while still in the HOME menu. This way local multiplayer should work again.

Please let me know if this does not help

Thank you for your quick response.

I have done the following and still no luck.
I checked for system update and it was up to date.
I did the hard reset turned off the system and removed the power plug for a good 3-5mins. and reconnected it. (just unplugged it from the xboxone) Not the power side don't think it makes a difference)
Changed the power setting to ENERGY SAVING (how long does the XBox one take to boot up this way?) mines still boots up quite quickly.
At the home menu of the XBOX (windows 7home) i logged player 1 with the main account used to purchased it and player 2 with the 2nd account.
THEN i load up the game and go multiplayer> Local > Versus
Playerone is logged in and player 2 still needs to "Press A to Join"
So I go and press A and see that player 2 is already logged in with the account when choosing the account. But i click it anyway.
                              Same thing happens
Game goes into a quick loading sub-screen and then
player 2 gets no respond and can no-longer press A to join or anything.

Thanks again hopefully we can figure this out =)
