What exactly does changing the Variance do in Beat Your Music mode?

  • #2
It gives you different enemy patterns that will still fit with the song data that's generated by the beat settings and analyzer output. So if the beat stuff is correct, but the patterns don't feel great, then you can try some other variance settings.

I did this with 15 of my songs, changing this Variance value, the beat is, at least for me, OK (got some values on google as well for testing) and theres no real felling of the music. The enemies, so far on this 15 songs, didnt came nearly close to the beat of the song, as it works on the official 18 songs of the game.

I just beat enemies with my song.

The huge lifetime that I was expecting from this game is just gone. Or I just did wrong all the way.

You guys from Zen could publish a video tutorial showing how to do this correctly, with any song that most people would know?

I just replied to you in the other thread, but a good starting place would be just to post a couple songs and your current settings for them. Then we can check them and see if they can be improved. It's never going to be as good a fit as the hand-scripted levels (otherwise, we'd just have used automatic generation for them in the first place), but it can get pretty close.

Will there ever be an option to fully create/edit songs? The enemy patterns could be tied to a .midi file (if ps3 or vita support that)

We don't have one planned, but a lot can change based on how the game is received.
