    Feedback!!

You have to optimize the combination of music and action.
This means clear rules of movements by depending of music and its effect!
At the beginning it also should be possible to handle for beginners and then increase difficulty.
If you miss important parts of music, you will get hits and at a certain point you will loose fight!
The game idea is easy, the coverting isn“t!
You always have to reflect and to move from one step to the next!
It will be able to be a great idea, if you have an interest in music and in fast reflexes!
    I will reflect!
    All the best for you!
Hope you have further great ideas for Pinball FX 2!

I try to answer as much as I can here and on Twitter/facebook/steam forums etc. Even if I don't get a chance to post a reply, I send all bug reports and suggestions to the team

I'm delighted at how well this game plays and how polished it is. I was also pleasantly surprised at the beatmapping technique for custom songs. As an amateur musician, when I need to beatmap something for a remix, or let's say a DDR stepfile, I use the exact same method; check a bit in the beginning, middle and end. Big kudos for that.

I plan on posting a review on my blog once I've fully cleared both story modes, and had some time to further abuse wait I meant investigate custom songs and the other features of the game.

Frequency was the first music game I ever played, and I loved the heck outta Frequency and Amplitude (shortly after I started DDR and was lucky enough to have an arcade that specialized in music games open up near me which started what has now been a decade long Bemani career). However, seeing Papa Roach and P.O.D. in the list of licenses first had me reacting with a "*sigh* Hoo boy, these licenses are gonna be Harmonix's early days all over again". But then I saw the Cellardweller remix of Propane Nightmares and some other heavy hitters, and I got pretty stoked.

I have to say, Kickbeat is an enjoyable rhythm game. I really like the soundtrack you guys picked out.

Also, I'm really glad you guys put out a demo. I've never heard anything about this game but I always check out the new demos in the Playstation Store. The gameplay + the price = I buy.

This game is becoming my second favorite rhythm game. First being Gitaroo Man.

Will continue to spread the word about this game, when I find more people that like rhythm games.

    Thanks, much appreciated!

To answer your question about the soundtrack, I originally envisioned it as being all gangsta rap type stuff, just music that made you want to punch things but to a rhythm, since kung fu movie choreography is heavily rhythmic, and gangsta rap is fairly rhythmic and violent, too. It seemed like a good fit, even though I'm not a fan of the hip-hop genre personally. And we wanted to make an alternative to the current rhythm game soundtrack scene, which was (and still is) moody, generic electronica, weird Japanese stuff, and dance pop. After putting together a prototype with the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage," the dev team from Europe had other ideas while I was temporarily not really involved with project, and the early versions of the game had all this pop and top 40 stuff, plus some decent stuff like The Prodigy and Celldweller. I think "Lose Yourself" from Eminem was the only rap track they would consider. At this point, the game really lacked energy, as the songs didn't make you want to spazz out and fight. After many, many arguments and much pleading, we went with a heavier bent, but one that was more electro-rock/industrial/alternative metal/nu metal than pure hip-hop.

Loved Amplitude. Used to play it ever day after work back when I was working on sports games. Some epic office competition.

Kickbeat is the best rhythm game since Amplitude

I've always been a fan of rhythm games, but with the advent of Guitar Hero, everything became geared towards actual instruments, games like this disappeared. This game's rhythm aspects are great, combining hard-hitting electro-rock and martial arts.

Neil, this soundtrack blew me away. How did your team decide to put such heavy tracks in this game? I expected current dance music like Lady Gaga and NeYo or something, but instead I got Marilyn Manson, Celldweller, and Blue Stahli. Every review I've seen for this game has been great, so I think everything will go great for this game. Like I said, it's the best game since Amplitude, one I'm sure you're familiar with. Rockband: Blitz is pretty much an inferior version of that classic game.

Anyways, thank you very much for this game! I've been telling anyone I can about this instant classic! Hope to see more games like this from the mighty Zen!

  • Thanks for your support, and please spread the word!

    Hey KickBeat fans,

I hope you're enjoying the game! We worked hard to bring you the best experience we could, and we also did our best to provide good value with a level of challenge and extra features like Beat Your Music that will give you dozens of hours of play - and of course a low price and Cross Buy support.

If you're having fun with KickBeat, please share your experience with your friends on and offline, and rate and review the game on your favorite gaming sites. As a small company with no marketing budget to speak of, we depend on word of mouth from you guys to help make our games a success. And if you're not having fun, tell us why so that we can do better!

By spreading the word about our pinball games, you've made them successful far beyond what we ever hoped, and we've tried to give back by supporting them with reasonably priced content additions and major feature upgrades in the form of free sequels. We'd love to be able to do the same for all of our games, including KickBeat!

Thanks again for your support, and happy kicking!
