  • [Bug Report - PC/Epic] Brother In Arms gradually looses audio and crashes

    Hi,

just got the table and the nostalgia is more than real with this one - amazing job with every little detail - i loved the 3 BiA main games and this table captures the essence to a point i'm speechless. <3

    Now here's the problem:

After a while of playing the table gradually starts loosing audio elements - voicelines, the shot when ball gets launched, supply drop sounds, flipper sounds, no sound when ball runs through lanes, sound of rain etc etc.
When you play multiple games in a row and the table/game crashes, stating an UE4 error.

The only way to enjoy the table somewhat properly now is to return to the main menu after every game and reload the table, which is a bit of a disappointment.

I hope that gets fixed - apologies if this is already on your table / a known issue.

Thank you very much for your report! Could I ask you to share your hardware specifications here? Do you play in portrait or landscape mode? Thanks for your answer in advance and sorry for the inconvenience!

      Hi Linne,

no worries about trying to gather info about my hardware:

I'm not running a beast PC but surely it's enough to run Pinball FX properly - i get a little bit more than 100fps on the table

      CPU: 1st Gen Ryzen 5 R1500X

      GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

      RAM: generic 16gb of DDR4 (@2400mhz)

      OS (Win10) sits on a NVMe / M.2 SSD
Pinball FX sits on a regular SSD

      Fullscreen: 1080p (1920*1080)

If there's something i missed please let me know.

Additionally i might add that this is the only table i have problems with - i own every Williams table (except for the Soccer one and Indie) plus the free one we all received, and all of them run fine.

I assume that the other report i made with the bugged dot matrix / dmd may be related, but i am not sure.

Kind regards and thanks a lot for the assistance!

So, i recorded some clips to better show what is happening, so here's what to look out for:

        1. General pinball sounds (flippers, deck sounds, impact sounds etc) dropping out randomly and appearing again shortly after.

        2. Table specific sounds doing the same thing: For example in one clip you will not hear the rain, in the other clip you won't hear the supply crate drop or collect sounds.

While there's more in the 2 clips than listed above, the issue is not limited to what you see here but impacts all sounds and gets more severe over time. The "pattern", if there is one, appears very random to me and there's no way of really telling what sound will drop next or maybe come back.

However i thought it's a good enough representation of what's happening. Basically the issue gets more severe over time until at a point the whole game crashes to desktop.

I tested the remaining Gearbox Tables in the meantime, they appear as fine as all the wms tables, so the issue is specific to the BiA table - at least on my system.

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE DON'T JUDGE MY POOR PLAY - if i was a pinball wiz i'd blame the random sound drops putting me off, but the reality is that i am a relative pinball noob just trying to have fun with it, while soaking up nostalgia with this table of course.

EDIT: Top left corner displays FPS reported via steam

Thank you very much for the details and the footage, I forwarded them to the devs who will investigate the situation. I was told that they might have an idea about what could cause this issue.
