  • Should this have been released yet ?

As a pinball game goes this is really unplayable for anyone trying to get serious scores, I've not got the flipper lag which some people have reported which would make this game totally unplayable, the nudge is pityful the dead spot on the analogue stick makes it useless and changing it to the D pad makes it awkward and there is still the problem that the nudge itself is to weak making it pretty much worthless, also making the achievement on the avengers table pretty much impossible too.

Then there is the leaderboards which seems to have many problems scores getting gifted to other players and high scores getting wiped for lower ones (the soft fix I have for this is when the last ball drains if I haven't beaten my previous best I reset the game so it doesn't post that score (I lost a 1,155 billion score on sorcerers lair before I figured that out)) I think barbie or someone from Zen should have posted something like this soft fix before if they have and I've missed it sorry

Then people are posting about the game not even loading this isn't good at all as it will just drive new players away not helping the game at all

Having played PFX and ZP on xbox and playstation I know Zen are good at fixing problems (alot better than farsight are with TPA and previous games) but some of these problems are game breakers and need fixing quickly before people are driven away from the game

And a little side note I don't really like the front end on the Xbox One version,ZP 2 and the 360 version is alot better and there needs to be some of its functionality brought to the Ones version, I know why it had to change the front it is getting cluttered on ZP 2 and the 360 version of PFX 2 with all them tables

Keep in mind not everyone is experiencing all of these issues. Right now we're focusing on getting the imports fixed and figuring out why some people are experiencing frequent crashing. Not all of this stuff could have been tested before launch, (like the crashing that began a few days after the fact). I've been sending reports to the team and we are working on all this stuff.

Do you have an ETA on Earth Defense, Excalibur, and the Marvel pack Barbie?

Besides from some achievements not registering initially in the first few days outside the game itself ive had no issues with the title be they export or lag based. As such im glad they released the game when they did - been having a blast playing all these tables again after so long and dont mind waiting for the tables not yet available even if Excalibur and Plants Vs Zombies rank in my top 5 tables.

Barbie has already stated that the older tables won't be coming to the current gen consoles because the tech is to new for the older tables to work on. So hang on to your 360/PS3 if you want to play them.

              Greetings,

Finding the leaderboard issues very annoying as you have no idea where you actually stand. Had a wizard score, if you could call it that, of about 200k last night and after playing a table and getting a reasonable score it jumped to over 350k. However, it should be no where near that and I should not be #1 on the friends leaderboard for Wizard Score.

I appreciate there are bound to be 'undocumented features' in the game for a while after release. But, come on, leaderboards are one of, if not the, main feature(s) of a game such as this. So the leaderboard should have worked from day one, and worked correctly.

I am with knackerbag on this one, the game is just not worth playing due to being awarded scores that are not yours.

Alot of players will be having the nudge issuee I would imagine most new people won't know how the nudge should work and how Important it is to the gameplay for getting them really highscores, I've check TrueAchievement and no one has the avengers achievement tells me that no one can do it telling me the nudge is broken for everyone meaning this is only half a pinball game and just seeing there have been no amazingly high scores posted also tells me it doesn't work and this should have been seen before launch

I also think everyone is having the leaderboard problem and pinball being all about high score and ranking and like I said I've lost a score of 1,155 billion from the ranking that was a waste of my time playing that game really and there was someone else with a score over a billion who lost his score

You are right to focus on the crashing and table importing first even if I have none of these problems people not being able to play at all is the most major problem

To put my 2 cents on the post title...I say, "No, it's shouldn't have been released yet".

I had no import issues except for it saying I had to pay on a few tables (I have them all), but as soon as I backed out of the table purchase screen and back in it would show that it was available to download for free. Keep in mind, I did all of my table downloading straight from the store and not in game. I didn't even launch the game until everything was downloaded.

I have also had no issues with the game not starting of acting up. I have noticed no flipper lag, but I may just not be that sensitive to picking up that type of thing. Nothing is noticeable to me anyway.

I did have 2 10gs achievement that I unlocked when the game was showing the 10 point achievements as 0gs and I am therefore short 20gs on the game total. I'm going to need someone at Zen or Microsoft to get that fixed. I'm guessing that will be like pulling teeth. If it doesn't get fixed I will always remember this game as being the one that messed up 8+ years of gamer score. Not a good thing and I can say after 50+ tables purchased I will not buy another one unless it is corrected.

I also had an issue with an achievement that unlocked, but in some places in the system it was still showing as locked. That seems to have worked itself out.

I didn't notice the leader-board issue at first, but then when my trophy icons started disappearing from the game icons I soon realized I was being ranked by my last game and not my best game.

Then after trying to get the, now imposable, Avengers achievement I realized the nudge was broken and basically worthless.

I will also agree that the UI is a step backward compared to the 360 interface. Having the tables sorted is nice, but some of the info that I like to see is missing (which friends have which achievements). Though I did always hate how that info tab on the 360 would auto scroll when I didn't want it to.

I have said it before in another thread, this launch reminds me of the Xbox One launch in general. The games look better, but the UI was better on the 360. The bugs seal the deal and it gets my "Not ready for launch" stamp of shame.

Ouch, I think you guys are being a bit harsh on Zen here. Think you can do better? Try making your own pinball game and having a flawless launch!

I like the new front end, the 360 one was way too cluttered, overcrowded, and hard to tell what thumbs were what table. This separated layout where the tables are grouped by theme, Zen, Marvel, Star Wars, is far more user friendly.

I think you guys just fear change!

Go back to the Xbox 360 version of Pinball FX2 if you don't like how it is on the One for now, and wait until the teething issues have been sorted out.

Technically, it's not like you paid anything for it anyway!

Aside from the missing tables and lack of a ball rolling sound effect, I'm loving it.

I had a flawless transfer experience, no flipper lag, and I don't use nudge, so a great game is still a great game for me, now in 1080p 60FPS.

                      Greetings,

Harsh? Not really just pointing out "undocumented features".

As a programmer if I released code that didn't work as wanted/intended then I wouldn't be working!

Technically you're correct, however, if the core game is not working as it should then any new tables released that people then need to purchase will not be worth playing unless the main issues are resolved.

No I don't think I'm being harsh just stating the reality of it and its not just for my needs, Gamers are fickle and some will try this like but the issues will drive them away and they won't return, which means if Zen don't sell enough why should they update the game with features like 3D which I believe you want, you should think more of the bigger picture

I want Zen to make tables for years to come but they won't if they don"t sell and thats why releasing the game in its current state probably wasn't a good idea, they only improvement is the 1080p and 60fps the rest of the game is a backwards step

Like not having online multiplayer on launch isn't a good idea, I'm not a big player of it but there is people who play it and enjoy it and now that option isn't there for them or the new people, there isn't many games on the one for you to play and chill with your friends this could have been that game but its a missed opportunity now

I've been a fan of PFX/ZP for years but this release has been a big let down, the other games have had issues but none as bad as this version and like I said before I know Zen will fix the problems but how long will it take and how many lost sales will it have cost them, I'll still keep playing it and buying the tables but there is to much rushing stuff out and fix it later is gaming and its not good

I've been waithing for this since the lauch of the Xbox One and I'd have been happier to wait even longer for a working version of the game

Agreed, I've also been waiting for this for some time, maybe not quite since the launch of the Xbox One, as I don't believe it had been confirmed as an up and coming title quite as early as that, but yes, certainly since it was announced.

I think the most likely scenario is that Zen have made the best of a bad situation, and some bugs have slipped through the cracks that may otherwise not have been there.

With the game delayed from the initial July 31st release date, and wanting to appease those of us demanding crossbuy, then it's highly likely that the game was pushed out a but sooner than they may have liked, just to keep some of us happy.

Is this Zen's fault, or Microsoft's for not anticipating the fan backlash and implementing crossbuy from the beginning?

Chances are that we'll probably never know, but at least for now, we have a pinball game on the Xbox One, and for some of us, that is enough.

I'm sure that given time the game will be in a state many demand it to be in right now, I for one would like to see the ball rolling sound effect patched in, along with, as you rightly state, 3D support, but I think Zen are in this for the long haul, they have a good relationship with Microsoft, Pinball FX was born with them on the 360, and they clearly have a close working relationship given the speed at which the crossbuy feature was implemented - 2 weeks.

Once the flipper lag is sorted, the nudge delay is fixed, and to a lesser extent the ball rolling sound effect is in place, and I'm guessing also the high score leaderboards glitch is fixed (although this doesn't bother me so much as they're so damn slow to look at I gave up using them! Something else that needs looking at perhaps), then in guessing this will be the Pinball FX2 game that the purists want, whereas for me right now, as it is, it's perfectly fine.

Right now, I'm happy to have something to do, even if it isn't perfect. Besides that, there comes a point where a game studio won't be able to anticipate every issue, and a lot of problems - the leaderboards for example - might not be something that they'd know about until after launch. To be fair, the game does work, perhaps not as well as some might like, but it can be played.

I have the utmost confidence that the folks at Zen are working as hard as they can to fix all of the problems which have been reported so far. This isn't a game that's been developed to turn a quick buck and then abandoned...this is something they want to be amazing because they are passionate about it too. Any notion that they don't care, or have been sloppy and rushed this to the Xbox store, or haven't been focusing their efforts on remedying the issues this game has been having in the -5 days- since it's been out is illogical.
