  • Luck based Minigames on Pasha

    Hi

I'm playing PFX2 since release, but i don't get that hard "complete all Tales" Achievement on that table.

Starting a tale is hard for me, and playing the same Oasis minigame is driving me insane. I don't understand why I only complete 1/50 Tries. Is there any hint how do it without pure luck?

Next problem is the magnet minigame. Tried it maybe 40 times and still can't finish it. Press left when the ball is on the bottom and right when its on top. Yeah...any other suggestions?

I like that game and I'm still playing, irgnoring that damn frusttrating minigame system. But i don't think that is well designed.

First and foremost, the magnet mini-game. I can finish this one about 80% of the time. Once you get it "down" you should be able to also. The first thing you should do is when the ball drops, hold down the left trigger until the ball reaches the magnet/light. Once it does, hit the right trigger. The ball will travel over to the right side, now it is just a matter of timing alternating left/right trigger clicks in a rythym (about ever half second). Once you have completed it once, you will know what I mean. Its about keeping the ball moving at a wide arc away from the hole.

As for break through the guards (which I believe you are referring to), remember you can hold the ball and then pick your shots. Forget trying to hit all the guards, just clear out the way to the top shot. Once you have those down, clear the ball out via the top hole. I am still only about 50% on this one.

As for the flying carpet, pray like hell all the lights are not lit when you get it LOL.

Rapier got it spot on in explaining how to do the Pasha mini-games. All I can add is that for me many of the mini-games and missions in PBFX2 is all about confidence and believe that you can actually do it. A good example is Ironman Ultimo mode - I have not been able to complete it yet and each time I am getting close to it by finishing all the required missions I can feel my body start tensing up and I usually start losing balls even long before I actually face Ultimo. If I am not close to facing him, it feels like I can carry on forever with the amount of ball control I have.

What I have found work for me to try and overcome this (and where I should probably listen to my own advice for Ironman!) is to first play a table on the easiest level and with as many balls as possible because once you have completed all the modes on a table and you know what to expect and do your self believe increases considerably and you approach it with much more confidence when you play it on factory settings again - this worked very well for me for Rome and Pasha (especially the Magnet mini game).

Actually, I have gotten pretty good at the mini games on Pasha... the magnet games I run about 90% at this point. Rapierdwit is correct, once you get the timing, you will pass this one most of the time. "Breaking thru the guards" can be a bit more tricky. My strategy is to hit the ball at the end of the flipper (to send it across the board) to get as many guards at first and create the "escape hole". The reason I send the ball diagonally is so that whatever the ball hits, it will fall on the opposite flipper safely. The carpet ride is fairly easy, cuz there are only 2 flashing lights (unless you are doing the "NON tales" mission, then all lights are flashing at the start). So far, I've beaten the snake quite a few times and my current high score is over 290M. Now if I could get more consistant with that Oasis shot...

so today i played 1 game about an hour. finished 2 tales...
i'm getting better with the magnet minigame and the carpet was never a problem at all. But this **** defeat the guards is driving me insane. Tried it 30 times and finished it once... I'm too stupid for this table, so i quit and play something that don't waste my time with pure anger !

          Thanks for your help

The advise above is pretty sound although I play the magnet mini game slightly different as I let the ball one full circuit unaided before I hold the left flipper.

The guards are by far my biggest annoyance, I was getting through about once in 11 attempts but I'm at around 1 in 3 now. I tend to hit the guards at diagonals to the flippers.

Carpet is very easy, just make sure you know how you are going to attack the game before it comes into play.

As for the final mission, it's probably the easiest tale of them all. You have I think 90 seconds to put three balls into the snake hole, I have only failed it once in 20 attempts.

My score is 439m and I'm confident I can break 1bn on the table.

Getting extra balls are useful but don't go too far out your way to get them, concentrate on the tales.

there is nothing on pasha that is luck based.

the magnet mini-game is very difficult until you "get it". then you can do it easily always. the carpet with only two illuminated positions (ie as one of the tales) is obviously simple, the one with all positions illuminated is obviously more challenging, but can be done in one go by bumping the table twice.

defeat the guards is my favorite of the mini-games and is also skill based. the only piece of advice i will give it so remember that there is a blocker in the middle and it is ok (or even advisable) to let the ball bounce off it and onto a flipper.

pasha is by far my favorite of the 4 tables i have.

i have been thinking of getting a good hs capture card and making some commentated video guides on how to play pasha, but until i do, all i can say is there is nothing on that table that is based on luck.

Truthfully, as a player who is fairly decent on Pasha, the "defeat the guards" mission itself is not really skill based in itself purely because the placement and rotation of the "guards" each time you launch this mini-game is randomized and is not the same. Successfully completing it though I would argue does take a bit of skill.

I personally don't fare all that well with this mini game all the time but I normally attack it aggressively rather than trying to trap the ball and aim because if you've launched the mini-game via the book of tales, even if you fail it rather quickly, you generally have more than enough time on the ball save to reopen the book of tales and instantly try again.

As I've posted before, the magnet mini-game once you get it down, is cake. In fact once I launch it now, I actually don't look at the screen I use the audio and perfect the timing of the trigger presses. Again my advice though would be to wait until the "LEFT" message appears on the DMD before getting your sequence going.

I've been able to score over 1B four times in the last week and half and I'm in the process of putting together a guide. And to the poster above, extra balls are key on this table especially given that you can get 4 extra balls per table ball if done correctly.

There is a large luck component to the Guards mini-game. No amount of skill will prevent a ball drain if the ball just happens to deflect off of a guard. And deflections are very common due to the nature of the game.

I'd also argue there's a large degree of luck in the Oasis shot. I doubt there's anyone here who can nail that shot repeatedly. (If there is, feel free to post a YouTube video.

Please share how you can get 4 extra balls per table ball on this table. I was under the impression that like all other FX2 and Marvel tables that after the 2nd extra ball earned per table ball, extra balls were no longer awarded.

My apologies, that was a gross misprint on my behalf. It is not four, it is two per table ball. Both extras can be lit again once you've drained the actual ball that the extra ones have been awarded to. I apologize again for any confusion, thank you for catching that

I can hit the oasis hole about 70-80% of the time going in via the tales ball popper. You need to hit it really close to the end of the flipper.

OK, I'll keep trying that. I've tried every other spot on that damned flipper.

Are you able to nail the shot from the left orbit?

I can but only about 10-20% of the time, sometimes its coming so fast and blind you can't react fast enough and it becomes mostly feeling.

I'm surprised you can hit the oasis so consistently via the "tales ball popper". I once suggested the method, but I found more often than not the ball lacks the speed to make it all the way up into the oasis. I tried hitting late, but the timing seemed harder than getting it from a juicy orbit shot.
