Hi All,

Bought the 3 "packs" when they were on sale last week and loving this game. Best pinball i've played since Epic Pinball years back.

Anyway, read the advice on here about getting better and trying to stick to one table to learn and at the minute it's Speed Machine. So quick question as I can't seem to find the answer on my own.

How do you get all the tuning upgrades? Suspension is obvious and I think I have Chip tuning down but have not worked out how to upgrade turbo and nitro. Did all the other missions except this one last night and still cant figure it out.

Any help much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums Friendly Wombat! I'm sorry, I can't really help you with Speed Machine as I never really paid much attention to the FX 1 tables. There is a video though that was done for Speed Machine on FX 1 by Purple Vomit. I don't know if it will answer your questions but here goes:

If you only have the Core pack and not any of the additional tables I will suggest that you try Spiderman first as it has a nice flow to it and for a beginner it doesn't have too many things to do. If you have some of the additional tables I will suggest that you focus on Ms. Splosion man or Sorcerer's Lair as they are the two of the easier tables to get into and to make progress on.

I hadn't played pinball since Epic pinball either! Small world, I really loved that game back in the day. I was always trying to get my dad to buy some of the other tables, but he wouldn't bite. Not sure I EVER brought that android back to life. It's a free download now and I played it some the other day... man does it pale in comparison to these modern tables.

Thanks for the response. I've watched the vid and I think I have to complete the police chase mode to get turbo. Happens around 3.25 mins in I think. Not sure about Nitro.

I'm starting on the FX1 tables as I find them a lot easier to learn for some reason, but thank you for the advice. I'll try Spiderman tommorrow. Just have the 3 four table "packs" at the minute. But plenty of points for others

And Epic pinball was just that. EPIC for it's time. Think I had 6 of the tables. Can't remember names exactly but Pot of Gold (rainbow?), Race car, jungle, Enigma, Cyber woman (?) and, my fave, Deep sea. Which is probably why Secrets of the Deep is my fave table so far lol.

Ok so found that i'm just bouncing from one table to another and not really learning anything so set my self my own personal begginers goal of 20mil points for each of the tables I have.

So far have the following.

Speed Machine - 20,500,000
Extreme - 7,000,000 (and that took some doing )
Agents - 69,000,000 (no idea how I managed that)
Bucaneer - 16,500,000
Secrets of the Deep - 15,500,000

As well as a few mil on most of the other tables. Probably pretty rubbish compared to everyone elses scores on here but it's a start at least and i'm loving this game.

Nice beginning,man. Right decision to stick to one table to learn it better. Remember that each table scores differently, so a static goal can be achieved easily on one table and hardly at all on another. But the main point is: have fun! everything will follow.

Welcome to the Community m8, hmm Speed Machine.. sorry m8 aint played that Table since way back in the PFX1 Days where I completed its Wizard Mode and left the Table because I enjoyed Agents far more.

Hi there. Your scores look fine for just the short time you have been playing. As you may have noticed, this forum is one of the best to find friendly folks who are always on the ready with helpful advice.

It sounds like you have a good plan by setting personal goals. I might just suggest that when possible that you add pinball friends who are close to your level of skill, as well as those who are much better. I have found this helpful to give me a reasonable chance to pass people who are nearly the same skill level as me and to also be able to give myself a good gauge as to how far I have to go on a particular table to challenge the players who are better than myself. And sometimes, you will even surprise yourself with your level of improvement on the various tables.

It's always satisfying to pass one of your friends' high scores but I also find that it makes me just as happy to beat my own previous high score.

Hi all, thanks for the advice. I've improved a little bit and can now scratch buccaneer of my list as I have 29mil on this table.

Also improved extreme score to 8,900,000 and that was really hard work. I really like this table and is fast becoming my fave. I've learnt where everything is but it's so hard trying to get any descent points on anything.

I was a huge fan of Epic pinball as well and as a naive kid I always hoped to make the android come to life and that it would be something amazing, I could never do it so I even let my dad try it for me as well lol. It wasn't until years later I figured nothing special happend once you get it to live, so much for that, still an amazing game though

Extreme is a fun table from time-to-time. But generally the newer the tables, the better their designs. There are some great threads to look at here to teach you about nudge timings / tap passes etc - all of these work well in pbfx2 so check them out .

I would be interested to hear what you find easy about the fx 2 tables/gameplay and what you find difficult compared to real life. I don't have much real life pinball experience as I live in South Africa where real life pinball machines are few and far in-between.

I would guess that the two main things to get used to compared to real life is that nudging (flipper passing) is a big part of playing on fx 2 and super long games are the norm if you want to break into the top 10 on most tables.

Well done with your scores so far... really shows excellent potential for big scores

Obviously Roy can probably answer this question better but over the last few months I have played ALOT of Batman-The Dark Knight. Its the only machine I know of around my area and its in great condition.

Before I played a real machine (again after a lot of years, played a bit as a kid but was more into video games at the time) I probably would have said they weren't that much different. Well now I would say they are like night and day.

A ball on a real machine is I would say 90% of the time, is out of control. Getting the ball to a stop has to be something you work towards, whereas in FX 2 tables you can stop the ball easily and nearly always have the ball under control. Honestly on Batman I am lucky tohave a game which lasts more than 10 minutes even though in a 10 minute game I will feel like I have done ok. A 10 minute game on FX 2 is a failed game, no matter what table.

Man nothing beats a physical machine. Just commanding this huge, lit up beast and nothing beats the feeling of being on a good ball. The loud announcements of "Jackpot" and "Super Jackpot" make people look over in my direction. Another thing would be is that with FX 2 your practice is basically unlimited to how much you want to play. At $2 a play on my local machine its easy to throw away 20 bucks quickly.

The other biggest thing is the nudging. Even if I could nudge this machine it wouldn't be enough to pass a stop ball from flipper to flipper. Nudging is more for outlane saves and combined with emergency slap saves for SDTM. This thing alone make FX 2 very different to real machines. The control is just alot easier. Also the middle gap is larger on a real machine and not all machines have kickbacks so outlanes are always exposed.
