Way I see it; if something is broken and you can't return it; may as well try to fix it yourself at some point...

My biggest issue is space though; had to move recently and lost the garage space I had set out for the table so it's a bit of a bugger... I will own one one-day though; hopefully won't be here too long - this is just a pit-stop stay.

Pinball upkeep isn't really all that expensive. In a typical private-ownership scenario, you're going to have far fewer people playing the table, so parts are going to last a lot longer than in they would in a bar or arcade. And with the wealth (relatively) of aftermarket parts out there, many manufacturers offer stronger, upgraded versions of standard parts that will last far longer than OEM parts. As an example, you can often find painted, veneered hardwood replacements for parts that are normally plastic, and they'll usually last forever once installed. You can also put up a large bit of cash upfront and swap out bulbs for LED's, and those will last near to forever as well.

It only really gets expensive if you need to keep the table in immaculate condition and need to replace parts even if they only have a small scuff on them.

I have had opportunities to buy Pinball Tables myself, but yeah it always came back to "What happens when a flipper dies or some rubber wears too thin", it just makes me rethink the idea. I'm not one to look at repairing something like that with any sort of joy. If someone enjoys it and doesn't mind letting friends use the table then that's cool, but I would be so paranoid about owning one that I would only allow myself to use it, thus defeating the purpose of having one (or two or three).
On the other hand I still want to get a 4-player Gauntlet Legends Cabinet (less mechanical parts to fiddle with)...

I know that for some people, part of the fun is maintaining a machine. That's definitly not me, but the people I know who own machines seem to genuinely enjoy repairing it when it breaks.

"When" is exactly right. I've fantasized about owning a table (or three) but even if I was willing to spend the money up-front (and I've been tempted more times than I'm willing to admit), I've managed to hold myself back with the realization that I don't want to spend my fun money keeping a pinball table in good repair.

Actually Braid has a great replay value as you can find special "stars" that are very hard to find. Limbo doesn't have such secrets.

    For example:

How people felt after playing the Limbo demo:

    Code:
Vincent Didn't feel like buying the game.
    Shogun00 "

Cool, thank you for the lesson !

No need to do that. It's one of the first four tables, that FarSight is releasing for Arcade Pinball next year.

Me too, but I wouldn't know which table to get. Maybe Lord of the Rings.

Nothing crazy about buying an XBox just to play these games. You could get the XBox, all tables, a year of Gold subscription, and a new 50" flatscreen for far less than some people pay for a single real pinball machine.

What I'm saying is man I wish I could afford a real pinball machine.
