  • Any ideas as to when new table 4 pack will be released?

So with the release of the new Avengers Assemble movie on the 26th of this month, I was wondering when we are going to see the new set of tables. As one of the tables is based on the movie I am hoping that Zen won't keep us waiting too much longer as it would make sense to release the tables to take advantage of the attention this will generate. Then again too soon and they run the risk of spoiling elements of the film.

I think we'll see the new pack within a month.

Zen has said many times now, that the table pack will come out in May.

Yes, but the important question to ask is WHEN in May this is happening??

I would imagine it would be a couple weeks after the movie comes out, since it's a game/movie tie in,right?

We are trying to get this out the door in May, but we don't have an official date yet. I will let you all know as soon as we get it

This seems to imply there is a chance it won't be out in May. Correct?

As with any digital release, there is always a chance for delay.

Where's all the information about the new tables? Or do we have to wait until the tables are released to actually get some info on'em?

Go to http://www.marvelpinball.com/ or our Facebook page. They both have screens, trailers, etc.

Why does it happen so often with digital releases? Is there a specific reason or reasons why it is so common? I've always assumed it was in the process of production running right up until the last minute but without having to make the discs, cases, packaging them, shipping them, stocking them, etc... isn't one of the big selling points toward the digital revolution for the consumer supposed to be the instant availability of the product itself?

Not mad or complaining or anything.. just thought maybe someone on the other side of the equation could help me understand.

I'm happy to shed some light on the situation!

Digital distribution is really different from retail. It's a complicated process and it's still fairly new compared to retail. We generally don't get our official date until about a week or so before release and retail can get theirs months in advance. We've been publishing digitally for about 5 years now and each time is a totally different experience. The process is further complicated by each first party (like Sony, Microsoft, etc) since they have their own rules and ways of submitting games to be published. We can't just make one version of our game and send it off to be published by various first parties, each one has to be tailored accordingly and each first party has a system for submission that is totally unique to them. This makes trying to launch on all devices simultaneously quite a feat. Thoroughly confused?
