  • Avengers Chronicles achievements?

I went and downloaded Avengers Chronicles around 6:30AM EST. So far I've played one game each on World War Hulk, Avengers and Infinity Gauntlet. I'm noticing that each table is only showing me one achievement available for each table worth 50 points each. This is not the norm for FX2 tables, is this how AC is supposed to be? I checked out the trophies for Marvel Pinball on PS3trophies.org and on there they are normal. 3 on each table, each table seems to have a wizard mode trophy. I'm just curious if the 4 pack is not functioning properly on XBLA or if its supposed to be this way?

Here's what my achievement list is telling me:

Avengers - A Legend Returns (50g): Save Cap's ball from draining down an outlane on Marvel's the Avengers table.

Infinity Gauntlet - Surfin' in Space (50g): You scored a Surfer Award on the Infinity Gauntlet table. (Description for having it complete)

World War Hulk - Enter the Arena (50g): You have entered the ruined Arena on the World War Hulk table. (Description for having it complete)

Fear Itself - Blitzkrieg USA (50g): Collect all targets during Blitzkrieg USA on Fear Itself!

Am I missing 6 achievements? If so how would I go about fixing this problem? And if there's meant to be a 5, 15 and 30 like normal, will me having 2 of them complete screw up my achievement progress/gamerscore? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any info.

That's how it's supposed to be. Microsoft has a 99 achievement limit so Zen has cut it down to 1 per table to conserve how many they have left. I think it's up to 88 after this pack.

That's sort of lame. I was getting used to the formula of one easy, one medium and one hard achievement per table. I'm not sure I like the new formula. I mean, I like seeing my progress through the tables by looking at my achievements. On most tables I know I have wizard mode done when I have the big 30 pointer.

Oh well, hopefully this doesn't last long and FX3 comes out sooner than later. Then maybe I can play the way I like to play. Not having an achievement for wizard mode gives much less incentive to people like my roommate to even try for wizard mode. You see, he's bad at pinball and really only plays to go for the achievements. Making each table have 1 achievement that's relatively easy to get is kind of silly in my opinion.

Yeah, it's a bummer that we had to cut down on achievements, but it was either that or squander them all and then not have any for future tables. Either way, people would be unhappy about it. Thanks for being understanding!

I was just about to get on my high horse and start moaning. but the fact the the Xbox 360 cannot handle a 3 digit value of achievements did make me smile.

Maybe this is something for the next gen consoles. Infinite achievements per game.

Why would Microsoft puts limits on everything? It's ridiculous and it doesn't benefit anyone either way. Farsight is having the same problem with them because they tried to patch their tables they already had on their game, and Microsoft declined it because it did not fit the 4 MB "limit", yet other games such as battlefield 3 have 1.5 GB patches.

So if Zen is cutting down on achievements, how will this affect future releases? I'd say we complain to Microsoft because both Zen and FS are most likely going to go over 99 achievements.

It benefits microstock... Sorry, I mean soft. Damn. I keep doin that.
(MS has such a monopoly on their market, they nickle n dime the games studios just like their loyal fans. I mean, I'm not so sure the american market, could take shutting down MS. Seems like they've done called that bluff.)

My achievements never properly updated, I guess because I was playing the game before it actually came out. I decided to recover my gamertag to fix it and it erased them entirely. Now I have to do them all again. Curses!

Edit: I'm now 2 for 24 on the Blitzkrieg USA but I got all my achievements again. Wow, I really suck at that mission.

hulk and infinity gauntlet cheevos popped up in games 1 or 2 with little effort

                  pro:
can go back and concentrate on remaining cheevos from older tables
                  con:
I always before played more for the cheevos, table points of little concern

If the 50 point cheevos were more difficult to obtain I would be more satisfied (such as difficulty on par with the Ghost Rider or FF 30-pt cheevos, not something hard like Iron Man or Thor 30-pt cheevos)

I suggest if there is going to be one 50-pt cheevo for each that they require being more involved with the table than these two

I hope this is an exception and not what we should expect from future tables. Even though the tables are fantastic, I'm sure I won't put the time in to them the way that I do on the tables that have that Impossible Wizzard Mode Achievement. Chronicles are just a one night stand that I won't be calling back once I get the goods. It is sad that these beautiful tables won't find the love they deserve.

Am I only only one who plays these tables to try to beat their friends and their own high scores?

Don't get me wrong I like the achievements, but they aren't the be all and end of each table for me. To be honest I'm glad to get the easy ones out of the way, especially when one pops, pauses the screen and breaks ya flow/ concentration...

I love me some trophies However, this is the only game that I actually enjoy trying to beat my own/friends scores.

Trophies mean nothing to me. I like the challenge of beating the wizard mode and then trying to work for high scores.

In the past there was long discussions about various aspects around improving super score/wizardscore etc (http://forum.zenstudios.com/showthread.php?t=3323). I really do hope that Zen improve on this in FX 3 because then there will be no need for Microsoft achievement as aspects such as which modes you have completed (including Wizard mode) will be included in the statistics and possibly in the calculation of an improved super score.

                              No need? Blasphemy!

A good set of achievements is like the designers guide to all the things worth trying in their game. You can actually tell a lot (n not just about future parts in the plot, but the focus n feel of a game), simply from it's achievements.
I find it's a combination of the two - I play to be stay above my current nemesis, but when I am, I prefer to chase down some achievements. I actually do better that way, half the time.

There are some classic achievements out there-
If they came to here me beg (halo reach)
Wax on & wax off (geometry wars²)
Sith kicker (the force unleashed 2)
If life's really just a game, it was designed to be played co-op.
