  • Star Wars Tables "purchase cannot be completed at this time"

So has anyone managed to get them actually purchased and running on windows 8? Originally they were not on the release schedule for today. Im wondering if maybe the content is marked as unavailable. I had similar headaches trying to purchase the last pack. I got the pinball fx2 update installed today, but the purchase always fails with this horrible error. Can anyone confirm these are actually available for windows 8?

I was able to buy them on my home PC a little while ago. No idea why it does this to random people at random times.

No luck here. It won't let me purchase the classic or Star Wars packs. Both give a CONTENT_NOT_LOCALIZED error, or simply fail. I've been trying since last night.

The CONTENT_NOT_LOCALIZED is just because the name of the table you selected when trying to purchase was no localized for the store. It's probably still the same error "cannot be completed at this time".

Solitude: this issue is pretty wide spread. My friend and I both have cabinet build using pinball fx2 and both of us have this problem trying to buy tables. I also built a third pc as a test and created a new profile and it was unable to purchase with the same error. I have tried 3 credit cards, paypal, and all other Microsoft store purchases work. I tested this by buying some sort of $1.49 wallpaper pack.

Blocking purchases seems like the most horrible of problems you can have. Are you guys working with Microsoft on this? I hope you're not assuming its just some sort of fluke that only hits a small number of people and will go away on its own. Even on the table packs that I have managed to purchase, I get this error repeatedly, sometimes for hours, before the purchase will finally go through. Many of your users won't retry so aggressively and will just give up assuming it's hopeless. Frankly, if I didnt build a whole pinball cabinet around this platform, I would probably do the same.

The problem seems to exist regardless of buying the content from within pinball fx2 or from within the "game" app via explore and view more content.

This is ridiculous. Took me 5 days to buy the Zen Classic pack, now the Star Wars pack -same thing. Can't buy them in game or from the Windows 8 store. Updated PBFX2 yesterday but still can't buy them. Zen - you guys definitely have a problem with 'packs' and Windows 8. Single table purchases are never a problem, but these $9.99 packs are just not working.

The packs are an attempt to get more money, when you consider an individual table is $1.99, yet the packs are $10 for 3 or 4 games. But regardless, this appears to be a problem on two fronts. Microsoft's store isn't allowing purchases, and Zen's servers can't handle the demand. I can't download the Star Wars tables on my iPad and Galaxy 3 either. In both cases, it fails around 50%.

I have no issue with the price. These tables are worth more. I dont care if they charge $25 a piece. I do have issue with them not being able to be purchased and being told its a "random issue for random people" when it seems extremely wide spread. Last week when this happened on the 4 pack, I spent over an hour on the phone with the microsoft store folks and they insisted there was NO issue with my account or with the cards. They believed it had something to do with the content.

I believe someone at Zen needs to get on the phone with someone at Microsoft and get this sorted out. Whats the point of releasing great new tables when you cant recoup that investment with purchases? And how many people do you think actually come here and complain vs those that simply give up and dont report it?

I think the biggest mistake Zen made was making this a Windows 8 App instead of a standalone program. Pinball FX 2 is the ONLY reason I even created an xbox account and put a payment method for the Windows 8 store. They would have had less problems and a bigger audience with a normal desktop app. Just my opinion.

I couldn't agree with you more. Giving up control of your product unnecessarily is *ALWAYS* a bad idea--and now look at the fallout.

Agreed. I was merely commenting that the pack is more expensive than individual tables. Usually, bundles are discounted, not more expensive. It hasn't stopped me from (attempting to) purchase them. I was successful on the Android, eventually. I'll try my iPad when I get back to it. I'm still having no luck with the Classic or Star Wars packs for Windows 8. Ah well, more keyboard pounding in the future.

Just a quick follow-up. I managed to purchase the Star Wars tables via the Games store (instead of the app), but no luck with the classics. They are apparently broken in the store, at least that's Microsoft's claim. Zen Studios needs to fix this.

Unfortunately, I doubt Zen studios has any control over this or can fix it. Other than they'd probably have a better chance getting Microsoft to do something than you or I do when we call them. If the issue was a zen studios issue, then it seems unlikely that anyone could purchase it. The fact that some of us finally get them purchased after trying 200 times over the course of a few days proves that the content is not marked as invalid or such.

I'd like to see someone at Zen actually working with Microsoft to sort this out rather than just saying its a "random problem that hits random people". That mistakenly makes it sound like a minor problem that is infrequent. I believe that most people probably hit this barrier and that they probably are losing half or more of their potential windows 8 sales over it.

It's not a small problem, and we've done everything we can on our side. "Random" just means we have no way to reproduce it on our end.

Understand that I have to be diplomatic in the way I say things, because criticizing one's business partners in public is seldom productive.

Have you tried to see if the people with the problem have similar systems? I'm running Win 8 Enterprise x64 on an SSD hard drive. My only payment method is Paypal.

What I find odd is that it's only these packs. I have purchased single tables last week when I couldn't buy the Zen Classic pack, and even today when I can't buy the Star Wars pack I can still buy single tables.

There's no discernible rhyme or reason to it, and we don't have access to the transaction logs or software used to process the transactions. All we do is a call a function that Microsoft tells us to call and display what it returns.
