  • Star Wars : Clone Wars --> 2 problems

    Hi,

All Zen pinball are fantastic but this one is completely buggued (PS3)
    1)Many slowdown occur
2)When the ball is saved...it goes directly to the hole between the flippers

    Thank you to patch that.

    Regards.

What do you mean by When the ball is saved...it goes directly to the hole between the flippers?

The ball save is a little different on this table (more annoying) as when the ball is lost, the gunship fires at it, causing the ball to rocket (for lack of a better term) back into play. If you are being hyper and the flippers are raised, it can bounce off the backside of them and go right back down the drain, so you have to be cautious.

If that's what you are referring to, I think it's more of an annoying design quirk of the table than a bug.
The Claw Save on the Wolverine table is somewhat similar.
Tables completed: Ms Splosion Man, Spiderman, BioLab, Captain America, Empire Strikes Back, The Avengers, Wolverine, World War Hulk, Sorcerer's Lair, Fantastic Four, Blade, X-Men, Thor, Moon Knight, Infinity Gauntlet, Super League Football, Starfighter Assault, Han Solo
Billionaire's Club: Spider-Man, World War Hulk, The Avengers, Sorcerer's Lair, Empire Strikes Back, Captain America, Ms. Splosion Man, Han Solo

Whatever I do with the flippers, I can't catch the ball. Strange to be so vicious in this table when the ball is supposed to be "saved".

And about the permanent slowdown on this particulary table?

I thought the same thing at first. If you drain a ball with the save activated, just let go of your flippers. like originalether says, it shoots the ball upward from directly above lowered flippers. If your flippers are raised, it shoots it from underneath them, resulting in the balll bouncing off the bottom of your flippers back down the drain. As to the slow down...idk...i play on the ps3 and i have no slow down problems. Plays smooth in either ZP2 or the Star Wars standalone.

Ditto! I'm not experiencing any slowdowns on the game either.

Thanks, I will try next time.

Really? I never had any problem like this in any other tables of Zen pinball or other game but in this particular table, it's not totally smooth (it's not a big slowdown but as if some frames where missing sometimes), that is crucial to control the game.

Be careful to this point next time to look if you notice something too (I don't know if it can help but I have the PS3 slim version = version 2/3)

I played that table (both ZP2 and SWP standalone versions) for many hours getting those annoying trophies and if I ran into a slow down or a frame rate drop (aka hiccup), then I would be complaining about it like there is no tomorrow. I also have a Slim. I bought it back in September 2009.

I do have a recommendation though and that is to try going into Safe Mode on the PS3 and select the third option (Restore File System). It's possible that some broken code in the hard drive could be causing the problem and this option repairs those.

I've had wonky problems with Zen games in the past and this trick always fixes them.

I agree, the ball save on clone wars as screwed me over quite a few times as well. Any possibility to make the ball save come out of the ball launch instead?

I tried the repair option of the same mode --> still the same.

                  Nevermind... :-(

You should also make sure that your TV's image processing is turned off (motion smoothing, etc.). If your TV has a "Game Mode," use that, too.

yea the ball save on clone is ridiculous if you move the flippers during the animation it hits em and directly back into the hole , not good for multiball mode especially wizard mode , which i still haven't beat ,
                      i don't have a pci use ps3 browser

Stof it would be more helpful if you told us what platform you are using to play Zen Pinball. That way it could be considerably narrowed down to as what the possible problem could be.

Multi-ball is my only gripe for the ball saver too. Its no problem during single ball play to let the flippers sit dead while the ball-save activates, but that's usually not an option during multi-ball. It makes the ball-save much less useful during multi-ball, which is really where its needed most.

I would be in favor of moving the save to the ball launch during multi-ball only, but keeping both the effect and the potential to screw it up by flailing during single-ball play.

Great idea!!!! I have a Samsung TV (46C7700 = 1600 euros in 2010) and the Motion parameter was set to smooth.
When I disable it, I have no problem anymore... but after that I watched a movie and... it's awful without it.

It is the first time that this image processing is worse than when it is disabled (the only game, other pinball included!).
                            Strange!
