  • Star Wars Videos and new Youtube content match dispute problem

    Hi everybody,

I am in need of some advice since Youtube has once more changed their 'dispute matched content ID' system.

Let me explain what happened to me today.

I disputed all Zen Pinball Star Wars videos in the past. Not once was it a problem and automatically after 30 days the content match notification would disappear.
So with 6 Star Wars tables in the past disputing the video content was no problem, but with my last uploaded and disputed video 'Han Solo' things changed. (Remember that we are talking about ingame music, I did not download and put their song in one of my own made videos that has nothing to do with Zen Pinball)

It showed 'Dispute rejected, claim has been reinstated' while it is the same London Symphony Orchestra' that plays music for all those Star Wars tables.

The new system from Youtube now wants me to fill out a long form with really all personal information like full real name, email, full adress, etc. see image 3 below.

I am not willing to provide Youtube with my private information because I even think that it is Youtube/Google who wants that data. (The form does not need my Telephone nr ? Ofcourse not because Youtube already got my telephone number at signup)
I do not even think that the London Symphony Orchestra is aware of this automated new system.

Zen and Star Wars do benefit from these promotional videos, so I cannot believe that it is not Youtube that wants to gather more personal information from people.

If this happens again with my videos, I will simply no longer dispute anything as I am not going to provide all my private information to Youtube.

And please be aware, that I am not earning any money at all with my Youtube account or videos.

So this is really taking the fun out of making Zen Pinball videos for my Youtube account since I do not want the hassle of repeatedly disputing the videos and filling out long forms while providing private personal information.

And I used the Youtube 'remove music' option but others tried it also and it failed again and again.
So deleting the video was the only option left.

    My question now is:
Would switching off the ingame music be an option to avoid the Youtube hassle written above ?

Or do I need to completely stop making videos of the Zen Pinball tables ?

    Kind regards,
    SWProzee1.

Yes! That's actually what Google suggests to avoid the DMCID system.

I would definitely advise switching off the music.

Even our account goes through random bouts of claims from time to time. I logged in last week to find that there were claims on about a dozen of our videos, many of which were posted a couple years ago and only featured our own original music.

Thank you shogun00 and BarbieBobomb for the reply.

It is a big mess at Youtube when even Zen has those issues with Youtube as she describes.

Recording the tables without ingame music then probably is the only option left.

I hope Youtube will soon start accepting that recording ingame music while playing a game is not trying to abuse copyrights in any way.
Because promotional videos are so much better with ingame music in the video as well.

            Hi !

I had the same problem with this video which was protected with no sound : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy6xK1qMeb4

Because a bot had detected 3 notes of music from the March of Emperor by John Williams.

I've simply wrote to Youtube that : 1) it's a video game, not a soundtrack copy, 2) the music on the video couldn't be heard in good conditions, because there was many other sounds around from pinball, 3) I've made this guide to bring new players, that's a good thing for John Williams who can get royalties with the developper.

Then they bring me back the sound.

Copyright caused video to be token down

I agree Imean I did a YouTube video and they said cantina band copyrighted for Han Solo they took my video down and I don't understand how are other people posting Star Wars pinball videos with the music. And not getting emailed a copyright claim

YouTube has a weird way of going about these, I'm not really sure what their criteria is for pulling down videos.
