Gah! I'm really not liking my super slow connection, I started about 4:10 pacific and ZP2 is just 81% done wtih the dl... let alone the Vita version.

Also try turning on TV and setting it to the correct input before powering on the PS3. If none of those fixes work, it's probably an internal hardware issue with the PS3 or the TV. The software isn't doing anything special in terms of how it queries the hardware about the 3D display status.
