  • Real or Virtual buttons on Vita Portrait mode for ZP2 ?

Thanks for the work on ZP2 who seems to be a very good product on PS Vita (and on PS3 in S3D) !
(I already love my ZP and Marvel PB tables).

And I also can't wait to play in S3D on my PS3, I had loved the 3DS version...

About the ORIENTATION (landscape/portrait) of the ZP2 Vita version,
"you" have already said (on the Playstation.Blog ZP2 "Zen Pinball 2 Scores on PS3, Vita September 4th With PopCap Table" posted by Zsolt Kigyossy // Managing Director, Zen Studios) that it will be present and that your prefer this portrait mode :

But, in PORTRAIT mode, will it be possible to play with the Vita "REAL" BUTTONS (which ones ?) instead of "virtual" buttons on the touch screen ?

I have now the experience of playing in Portrait mode on the Vita with Pinball Arcade, and it is not at all the same feelings with the virtual (touch) buttons on the screen.

The playability of this game is pretty bad in Portrait mode ONLY due to the use of the virtual buttons (no other possible choice for REAL physic buttons is possible in the menu, only virtual buttons in Portrait mode).

I'll hope that you have had the great idea to propose the use of REAL buttons (which ones ?) in BOTH Landscape or Portrait mode, because it is very important to have the good feeling that only a real button can give you.

Of course, as you mention, it is more "pleasant/enjoyable" to play pinball in portrait mode on the Vita, but if it is ruined by the playability problem due to the virtual buttons, it will be a very bad point...

Thanks in advance for your answer...

I believe the portrait mode only allows for the touchscreen controls, but I could be wrong, I'll find out for you! Also, I saw this post in the comments on our blog, no need to double post, I'll see it either way

Sorry for the double posting on your blog (I thought the comments of the news in the blog was too old to be viewable)...

Many thanks for your first level answer,
I'll hope that it will be possible to play without the touchscreen controls, because it seems to be not possible to preserve the quality of the gameplay without the use of the real buttons...

        No worries!

I played ZP2 on Vita quite a bit at E3, and the touchscreen controls worked really well, but I agree, it would be nice to have button controls for portrait mode as well.

          Thanks BarbieBobomb,

Nothing yet, everyone is still in Germany at the show. My guess is that there aren't button controls for portrait mode, but we'll just have to wait and see

Well, if someday the feature gets in via an update or such, I suggest the triangle and X button, while using the right stick for nudging. I'm not a fan of the touchscreen for pinball as well, It's too sensitive, and it gets input even before I touch the screen, when my finger is close to a mm of distance.

Either way, can't wait to be able to play my favorite tables on the go

Touch buttons too sensitive, ZP2 not playable in Portrait mode ?

I agree with you, I think the best controls in Portrait mode are :
                      - X (for the left button of the pinball)
                      - Triangle (for the right button of the pinball)
                      - Right Stick for nudging.

If it's not already implemented in the release version of ZP2 (still waiting for the information from BarbieBobomb), and I think I did not understand why if it's not, it will be a urgent update to produce (giving a "standard" method of Controls for an excellent Pinball Game as ZP2... ).

Touch controls are indeed too sensitive, and as you said give inputs even before you touch the screen, due to the very small distance fingers/screen, and are not playable as controls in a decent pinball game...

                        Agreed

While I love the look of portrait mode in Pinball HoF I never play in it because of the touch controls. I really hope the game doesn't use or at least force you to use the rear touch for anything. That thing is useless. That's the first thing I turn off in a game if it uses it and gives me the option. There's a picture of the rear touch on Wikipedia under unintuitive.
