  • Will we be getting any of the 11 tables that are currently only available on Xbox?

I just went back to look at Pinball FX 2 on Xbox and realised there are 11 tables on there not on Zen Pinball 2. (not counting Fantastic Four as I know this is already coming)

I upgraded my TV earlier this year and I have been unable to enjoy Pinball FX 2 on it ever since as the input lag is just too high. So I would REALLY like as many of those tables to come over Zen Pinball 2 as possible so I can play on the lag-free Vita.

I particularly would like it if the original Pinball FX tables came over as they were more realistic to actual pinball in functionality and graphics, which is nice sometimes. In fact, it would be nice if some more basic Pro Pinball style tables came out to contrast against the flashy, arcadey Marvel tables. For example I have only noticed one table so far on Zen Pinball 2 with a video mode and it was such a sudden surprise I instantly lost on it, as I was not expecting it.

Well actually, some are "FX2 Exclusives" like Miss Splosion Man. But for a couple tables, there could be a possibility.

I figured some are, possibly ALL are, which is why I asked.

Speaking of tables though, it would be nice if we could get some more game related ones too. I would personally LOVE a Sam & Max table, maybe even a Sonic the Hedgehog table, but I guess its complicated negotiating with other developers, publishers, rights owners, etc.

I'm just getting a little tired of MARVEL pinball now, would like some diversity.

Exactly my thoughts, haha nightmare of paperwork and license LOL!

FYI Ghost Rider Table isn't an exclusive.

I've been wondering this to, I didn't realize that zen pinball were missing them as I only played fx before & didn't much bother with it on Ps3. It would be great if we could get some of them missing tables on zen pinball 2.

I would actually rather have the tables from Pinball FX2 than new tables. (And vice versa if I were still on the Xbox instead of the Vita, I just happen to be on this side of the rift nowadays.) It sucks having them all divided up like this.

The system exclusive tables that are tied to system exclusive licenses (Ms. Splosion Man, Ninja Gaiden) make perfect sense, but, you know, when it comes to the other ones, all the division really does is punish diehard Zen fans. The average Xbox/ps3 user doesn't notice at all. It's not Halo, or Little Big Planet. No one is standing in gamestop saying, "I was going to buy a ps3, but since the 360 has the Secrets of the Deep table, I'm going to get that instead." Literally the only people who notice or care are the ones who love your game enough to join your forum, and/or post about your stuff on Twitter/Facebook/Reddit/Gamefaqs/whatever. We may drive you guys crazy (I know I try!), but you really do have an incredibly loyal cult following here, and a lot of us put serious energy into trying to further the Zen empire. Please work with us on this one. Unification!

(I really miss Extreme. I want to see it in OLED. *cries*)

Totally agree with that. I loved the classic marvell tables though but the last 2 packs did not entertained me a bit.

A wet dream of me would be :

              - Sonic the Hedgehog (as you mentioned)
              - Megaman
              - Metal Slug
              - Bubble Bobble
              - Old school Konami games (like Castlevania, Contra, Parodius, Gradius, Maze of Galious, Treasure of USAS, Pippols)
              - Caveman and/or Dinosaurs themed
              - Full Metal Alchemist

I agree, I hope they release them on ps3 in the future.

I understand what you mean. The Marvel tables are fun, but I find myself buying the Zen tables first because of the diversity of themes.

Since playing the PvZ table I've been thinking about other games I'd like to see. MediEvil and Castlevania could both make for amazing tables. I'd especially love to see MediEvil as a table. Elements like The Hall of Heroes, the Chalice, and the creeping hands could easily be utilized in fantastic ways. Castlevania would be easier to make for both consoles though, and it's iconic. For non-game themes, the seven wonders of the ancient world would rock. The Great Wall would make a wicked ramp. Missions could include things like lighting the lighthouse in The Colossus Of Rhodes, finding artifacts or mummies in the pyramids, making plants grow in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, etc. There are endless themes out there that the good folks at Zen could just go crazy with for all kinds of fun tables.

It'd be easier for Zen to port the non-exclusive Xbox tables than designing new ones, and lots of people would love to play them on PS3. Only have room for one system at my house, so that would be the only way for my family to play them. There is money to be made by porting tables to both systems. I know I'd buy.

I would much, much rather get the non-licensed FX2 tables then brand new ones. Hopefully they do this as it would be the fastest way to get new tables since they are already built and most of them are great. I would buy every single one.

And please God, no more freaking Marvel tables. Other than Blade, Cap America (and a couple others) I'm not a fan, actually I think the Marvels are the weakest and least interesting of their tables. I kind of wish I hadn't purchased them and certainly wouldn't buy any more.

Honestly, it's the less "mainstream" Marvel concepts that have intrigued me more. Things like Moon Knight and Fear Itself (which might be mainstream in the comic community but not so much for a casual Marvel follower like myself).

The problem with the Marvel tables is many of them follow the same tried-and-true "defeat villain challenges from a Mission hole to unlock the final battle with the ultimate villain as Wizard Mode." Which works as a formula, but there's only so many super villains you can confront before you want something different.

V-12 (and Speed Machine for that matter) are both pretty dated. I'd like to see what Zen can do with a racing-related table now that they've got years of experience under their belts. Doesn't even need to be licensed - not that I'd object to something like an Initial D table with a 6-ball Multiball mode and insane BPM Eurobeat blazing while targets are being hit all over the field.

I image it's tricky to get each company to "let go" of the tables that are only available if you download the initial packages. If you have to download the 360 version of Pinball FX2 to get those four tables, that makes it more likely that you'll download new tables on that system (and give Microsoft their cut of the profits). With the 360 being available for nearly seven years and the PS3 just shy of six, having people own both systems isn't as rare as it once was.

Maybe I just need to give the Marvel tables a more fair shake.
It could just be that since I'm not a fan of the Comics theme my bias is getting in the way of my enjoyment.

Although, I do really like Blade and Captain America. Moon Knight and Ghost Rider also seemed cool.

Anyway, I'll give them another shot and try to be more fair.

I intend to buy the tables in increments (spreading it out a bit so I have new tables to look forward to playing). The Marvel tables and demos are fun for me, even though I only have a casual fondness for comics. I'm not to the level of reaching wizard mode yet, but I get the similarity of story structure and the shared theme. That is part of why they feel less varied, despite each having individual differences in difficulty and play. They also share the same art style, which is probably my biggest reason for buying the Zen tables before the Marvel ones. For a comic fan that unity might really be a draw. However, the vast differences in visual style and overall premise between tables like Epic Quest, Mars, and Sorceror's Lair are more exciting to me than many tables in a "shared universe" be it Marvel or otherwise. That's part of the appeal of the Pinball FX tables, because some of those table ideas are really different from any tables I already have.

I'll probably get a Marvel pack next time, but not sure which one yet.

If you get a Marvel pack I'd recommend the one with Blade in it. Cool table with a lot of interesting gimmicks, and the theme feels less "super-hero" than the others.

                            Buccaneer
                            Nightmare Mansion
                            Rocky & Bullwinkle
                            Pasha

Of the missing FX2 tables Pasha, Buccaneer and Secrets of the Deep are probably my favorites.

I'm 100% with you on wanting more realistic tables with less gimmicks, personally speaking that's why I found myself losing interest in Zen Pinball when it got to the point where every DLC table with the exception of Excalibur was gimmick heavy and "arcadey" the last 3 in particular (Sorcerers Lair, Epic Quest and Plants vs Zombies) are bright, multi-coloured eyesores with childish themes that don't interest me in the slightest.

As for the Pinball FX tables I'm sure this issue has been discussed before and it's pretty much certain that you'll never see PFX tables on ZP because PFX is an Xbox exclusive and Microsoft will pay Zen Studios extra to keep it that way and Sony will do the same for keeping ZP exclusive to PS3.
