  • Changes I would like to see for the Vita version.

I'm truly amazed at how excellent and solid the Vita version of Zen 2 turned out!
I have really been looking forward to this release, and honestly I had mentally prepared myself for a watered down, noticeably inferior version. I can't tell you how happy I am that the Vita version turned out awesome and is damn near identical to the console versions.
    Awesome job guys!

I think one of the biggest benefits to this version is being able to play in portrait mode, but there are a couple things missing:

    1. I was really expecting to be able to use the buttons (o and x for example) in portrait mode as well as the touch-screen, and was very disappointed to find that we can't. I'm really hoping this feature is added sooner rather than later.

    2. View 2 in Landscape would be the perfect view for portrait mode (if it wasn't static), but it isn't even available in portrait mode... Why?

There are 8, nearly identical cameras in portrait. They are all very barely tilted or nearly top down. Most feel to far away and none show any depth. None feel like you're standing at an actual table. I actually have to switch to landscape just to be able to tell how the board is layed out when I first play a table.

I think portrait really needs a couple cameras much closer to the action and with much more angle. Flippers closer and more zoomed in towards the screen and enough of a tilt that you can actually tell the depth difference between the play-field objects. Basically Like how view 2 is in landscape.

Any chance of changes like these in the future?

No changes anyone would like to see? Nothing they would like to see improved?

Maybe very few of us here play the Vita version? Bummer...

Im a happy vita user, but had to play the game for several days to notice some handy improvements.
For me the only thing is that a good nudge is hard to pull off with my favorite button configuration (direction pad for left flipper and circle for Right flipper. The analog stick is hard to reach this way. What I would love to see is to bind the shoulder buttons to nudge. this way players can have control on both the flippers and the nudge buttons without too much trouble.

Using the nudge by motion sensor is thought well but in reality it loses complete focus of the screen at the important moments so that does not work for me either.

      Cheers, Randy

        Webcam

Does anyone know why Zen have decided not to utilise the front webcam as in the PS3 version? This is an improvement I would like to see for sure :-)

What? PS3 uses a camera? for what?

Maybe they don't on the Vita version because you won't always have a network connection (being portable and all).
Has anyone else noticed that while playing out and about that if the Vita detects a wifi signal the flippers stop working in the game?

Hopefully that gets patched. It cost me a highscore earlier today. Happened while I was playing while waiting at the coffee stand, flippers quit and drained my last ball only 30k points away from beating my high-score on SL.

              Hello

I agree with Metalzoic first post. On portrait mode i hope they wil change the buttons control.
But the vita version is realy good. Also i hope they make the camara angle better on portrait mode.

like you said I would also want to be able to use X and Triangel on the psvita. The camera support should also be with the psvita version.

I've had the flippers quit on me once, and I couldn't figure out why. That might have been it, since I know there are a few wifi spots in the area where I was playing.

Anyhow, I'd agree that another option for nudging would be nice. I'm trying to get the hang of using the motion control, but it hasn't been working for me. The left stick feels awkward for my hands even while using the shoulder buttons for my flippers. I instinctively hold my Vita differently when playing ZP2, so that I can hit the shoulder buttons easily and to avoid shakiness. D-pad would be a nice option for nudging, because with my small hands the analog is hard to use in this position. If I try to hold it the way that I hold for games that revolve around the analog, my wrists seem to get sore.

I'll have to give portrait mode a try. X and Triangle seem like they would be the most comfortable buttons to use in that position. It does feel like there should be some kind of option for that.

I love how the game looks and plays on my Vita. I had it on my system for two days before opening it (Been busy working on Psychonauts on PS3). After I opened it and starting playing the tables I already had from PS+ and the demos, I was hooked and had to buy myself more full tables to play. I have yet to play anything else since then. It's just a perfect fit for the system and tons of fun.

Piccalilli, you can use D-Pad for nudge. Just change it in options.

Hmmm... Does it show live video of you playing like a webcam?
Or something like a snapshot of your face when a ball drains to send to someone else?

Yep! The PS Eye also has a built in mic, so you can also do voice chat.

Thanks, Thirdrail! Don't know how I missed that in the options.

I would like that would improve the physics of the ball, there is a magnet effect, which makes it a little unreal physical

and I would like that improved general reflections on metal materials, and the ball, here a example
