Sports themed table pack?

Personally I've been disappointed by recent Zen Pinball DLC tables, the childish and bright, multi-coloured, cartoonish themes of Sorcerers Lair, Epic Quest and Plants vs Zombies make these tables virtually unplayable for me, don't get me wrong the tables themselves are solid and well designed and play well but the themes are for kids to be honest.

How about bringing it back with the next DLC with a sports themed pack? Football (Soccer), American Football, Basketball, Golf and Baseball would probably work best on a pinball table and maybe even try to get official FIFA, NFL, NBA and MLB licenses for them? I doubt the licenses would be too hard to acquire since you wouldn't actually be making a sports game and Zen Pinball/Pinball FX is without a doubt considered the number one pinball game on the market, so they'll know you'll make a good job of basically promoting their brand. Something more adult like for a change would be refreshing if you ask me.

I agree with you. I've been somewhat surprised and disappointed at the kiddieness of Zen's tables. I really like your sports pack idea too. Especially if they were able to acquire official licenses. It'd be awesome if they made a UFC themed table in addition to the others you suggested.

Not sure if you are into the Pinball Arcade game, but No Good Gofers will be part of the next DLC pack. It was designed by Pat Lawlor and definitely has the Caddyshack theme to it.

A licensed Caddyshack table, or just a Zen take on a comedy-golf table, would be awesome! I would prefer that to a PGA license.

No Good Gophers was one of my favorite real life tables (I say was because I haven't seen a real one in about 12 years).

Exclusivity contracts in this case only apply to dedicated sport games, they don't apply to obtaining a licence to use the image rights of a brand. Zen wouldn't be making a competitor to FIFA, Madden NFL etc so there's no problem there, all they would require is the rights to use the logos and images of the organisation.

Since the tables only run $3.00 each (or $10 for a 4-pack), I don't really think they'd be able to make enough profit to make slapping "official" logos onto the game worth their while.

They managed to get very low licensing fees with Marvel because they benefit from the advertising of their characters. But I rather doubt the MLB or NFL or whomever would offer a discounted rate. And if you try to get the teams in there that'd hike the price up even further - and you can't make a game based off of a specific team without alienating part of your user base.

Generic sports tables, bereft of licensing fees, is the only way Zen could make it worth their while. I certainly wouldn't pay an inflated $5 just to see an NFL logo on the corner of the table when I could pay $2.50 for "Zen Football Chaos" instead.

I wouldn't object to a sports themed table. Not at all! Anything Zen makes is pretty much golden. I am one of the few who isn't complaining about their "cutesy" tables as of late. Still very well designed tables and awesome at that.
