  • Mars table question

Can't activate the Portal of Lights mission, the one where you need to hit the targets on the left to spell "MARS". Do you just spam shots off the tip of the flipper until they're all lit?

My trouble is, if you release from the very, very tip, you can drain with a bankshot off the bottom of the slingshot. I've also had some luck lighting the targets with the upper right flipper, but only if the ball is going the right speed, and it's not really "aiming"... I just get a flukey hit every so often. The best I've done is 3 out of the 4 lit.

Tip shots are your best bet. That's how I completed the Pyramid mission, which also requires hitting those targets.

I personally don't like the portal mission, so I don't go out of my way to start it up.

Oh, the number of times I've drained when accidentally activating that game mode on Mars...

I used to hate this mission too in Zen 1 but I've actually completed it a couple times now in Zen 2. I found that just keeping both flippers held up after every shot keeps you fairly safe. That being said, I never go out of my way to start it either.. there's just not that much of a benefit to it.

Cool... Yeah I guess it's optional and not required for Wizard Mode. In terms of optional stuff for points, repeating Spider is my fav. Easy and nets over 5 Mil in about a minute.

Is it just me, or is Mars pretty tough compared to other tables? I'm still a noob (only been playing since Zen 2 was released) and have only spent time on PvZ and Mars. My aim is getting a lot better, but I still find the orbits on Mars finicky and I get a lot of slow, awkward rolls down the middle of the drain. I can't confidently use a dead flipper pass every time the way I could in PvZ, because some balls roll down the middle or hit the foot of the flipper and awkwardly slide down the drain. But I'll probably stick with this table until I beat the final mission.

Mars has probably got the most game modes of any Zen table. In fact I consider the four main missions as mini-wizard modes, similar to that of those found on the X-Men table.

I've practically given up attempting the Pyramid mission. Hitting those drop targets whilst juggling two balls (snigger) is tough.

Yep Mars is up there for sure, heck my 2 Hardest Wizard/Missions from Zen is Ultimo (Iron Man Wizard Mode) & Pyramid (Mars Sub Wizard Mode).
