    Hey there pinball ppl.

I have a Q. My older brother is a huge fan of pinball and loves it. Well loves it too much!
He usually comes over on a daily basis just to game on for an hour or two. The problem is he gets very frustrated and can easily start to use the F word and some time throws stuff like the hand control.

A few days back he threw the control and it landed on our cats head, and he looked like he was being threatened by the cloacked character in Crysis II.

Have you had any encounter with such people? In that case how would you do to make them understand that life doesnt end if a ball drops?
When talking about the unknown... Anything is possible.

We all can get a bit frustrated sometimes but in order to avoid further damage to the cat's head I would suggest playing hotseat 2 players and keep the good mood in the air, like some jokes and so on about the gameplay, that kind of mood of when a player looses doesn't go angry but laughs instead.

If all goes wrong and cat is already hidden, just remember your brother about a time where you would have to "insert coin".

I love this thread. To me I encounter so many people like this and I can understand it (to an extent) with shooters and most video games, but it's always perplexed me when it comes to pinball.

Pinball is a game that you cannot "win". You have to enter every single game you are going to loose. Some days you loose worse than others, but at the end of the day, you are going to loose every single game of pinball. I think it's only fitting that the company and game itself is titled "Zen". I often find that many of my meditation practices sink into my pinball play. Pinball isn't a game you should fight against; rather you must work with the machine and elements in order to accomplish shots and goals. You really do have to become one with the machine. If you respect the machine and the process, it will reward you in turn. It's all about energy, and both positive and negative energy alike self-perpetuate. If you want to be a good pinball player, you have to have two qualities: patience (read: practice (reread: time)) and positive energy.

      Hope this helps.

Heh, I admit I sometimes have a few choice words when things don't go my way, most often if the 1st ball drops before I've hit about 10% of my top score or the one I'm aiming to beat. Not thrown any controllers over it though.

Yeah! I get verbal sometimes when gaming (single player only*), but it's a great way to relieve stress. I've never thrown my controllers though.

*On multi-player games, I don't care if I win or loss.

Man you should hear that crap that comes out of my mouth when the ball doesn't go in the lane I want it and its a time limit. Or when I'm at a wizard mode and I'm on ball 3 and it SDTM! Talk about Hulk angry! I've thrown my controller in the past with the Gamecube. LOL Don't judge me. Mario Kart Double Dash on 150cc is what did it. Hahaha

I admit, I have some anger issues sometimes with this game also, but like Rafie said, don't judge me LOL. I tend to stay calm usually, but when some complete bs thing happens, man........Plus being in a tournament doesn't help the stress

Dude, Double Dash was the bomb, I remember getting the Gamecube for my birthday bundled with Double Dash, it was the best game eva!

P.S. New random question(s) before posting FTW!

I recomend sedatives washed down with those new Limearitas. You may not get your best score, but it will save any pets or televisions from permanent controller damage.

I would have given him ecstasy if it worked. He's otherwise a loving dad and a caring husband (so it seems) but when it comes to pinball he's just so stupid and angry.
The problem is, he's my older brother and I don't have the guts to confront him.

Hahaha, oh man I'm not one to judge when it comes to Mario Kart rage, I know all about that. Snapped the wii wheel completely in half after a horrendous series of online sessions a couple years back. The joy of a competitive luck-based game.

Whenever I lose the ball over a silly schoolboy error I take a deep breath and say to myself "Oh boulderdash, what in Lord's name did I do that for?". Then I headbutt the desk.

                      I suffer from headaches.
