  • Requests !

    Hello Zen!

You know how I love everything you do, but I have some really urgent suggestions. Sorry for my english. To be honest, I've been waiting... praying a while for some of them, but nothing happens.

First you must realize there are two kinds of pinball players: casual and hardgamers. Casual players play a few games without necessarily trying to understand the strategy of the table and your ideas. Hardgamers, mainly to enter the leaderboard, as they played on a real machine, hoping to sign the table with their 3 letters (yeah I know, it's pathetic).

    Ok, let's go !

    • Civil War could be an exceptional and strategic table. Full of great ideas. With just a ******* right hole, 8,5 million for a combo, the only way for hardgamers to enter the leaderboard. All your ideas disappear. It's like you created a blue and red rectangle with a sinkhole. My request : fix this, and reset the leaderboard. And please, don't organize any tournament if it's not fixed (as you did with Plants).

    • So Plants and its endless multiballs. Ok you still organized a tournament (the most annoying in your story), then fixed the bug a week later (only on ZP2). Request : you must fix it on PFX2 too, and reset leaderboards. Any interest to play it again, otherwise.

    • Fantastic 4 has been fixed several months ago, after a year of waiting on Pinball FX2. Super! Request : reset the leaderboard to allow hardgamers access.

    • Paranormal on FX2 : I heard a rumour, it will be fixed soon. So resquest : reset the leaderboard at the same time. Otherwise, no interest and you will do it for nothing.

What I mean, these four table have no more interest for hardgamers. In the future if you change the rules, leaderboards must also be reset. Even on a real machine, top 10 can be reset.

I know fixed patchs are expensive to upload on Sony and Microsoft... So please aware, take the time to fix bugs before releases. I prefer to wait, rather to play 5 games, discover bugs and no play at all. Please don't make the same mistakes as big editors, releasing bugged games on PC, then patches. Especially if your structure can't do it quickly.

I hope you understand these requests, many of us expect them. You really do a great job before production, I would like that would be the case also after. Your games deserve it !

If also fixes developers could be as nice and listening as Barbie...

    Thanks !

    Very well put Wims!

I have said all I wanted to say on this topic in other recent threads (and in many other threads linked to in my signature) so am not going to expand on it but in short; I fully support your urgent suggestions.

I would also love to know when we can expect tournament rules to be implemented - it was something that was discussed in detail in the past (refer to my signature).

Personally, I'm the other way around. I don't want to see the leader boards reseted, especially on PvZ. I like the challenge and I have managed to beat my old score after the update.

Not to mention, it's not going to happen. You have to see it in their perspective. If you were a developer, would you reset the leader boards if you know it's going to lead to nerd rage? The last time they reseted the leader boards (Rocky and Bullwinkle on PFX2), they actually received death threats. Yeah, I don't think it's worth resetting them just to please a few hardcore pinball players, especially if some of those casual fans are going to those extremes.

Death threats? You're kidding me. I hardly believe that anybody would go to such lengths over just a game.

To be honest. I played Plants vs Zombies again after the rules changed (even though I said I would never touch the table again after the tournament). While I didn't beat my previous score which was made before the rule change, I got fairly close to it, so I deduced that it hasn't had that much of an effect over scoring.

YEP! People can be really brutal when it comes to their scores. I haven't personally experienced it, but it is a sad fact of life in this industry. Always makes me feel so lucky to have such a polite, well-mannered community!!

You clearly haven't met a quarter of the people on the internet. The internet is a great venue for the crazies out there. I have seen sites that can't be unseen and read stories that should go into fictional books.

For those who don't know what is PFX2? Is it made for PS3?

Death threats? What would the opposite of that be? Love threats, maybe? Do you ever get any of those?

Oh! There's so much material to work with there, but I'll have to refrain.

Yeah the internet sucks sometimes. Especially on Facebook and such. You all should see the type of hate and threats that The Pinball Arcade (FarSight Studios) gets on the regular. It's actually horrendous!

What this ******* nerdz have to do with this ?

Ok, I still ask myself why R&B patch was made, because gameplay wasn't tuched. But high scores were, significantly. So they've reseted the leaderboard and they're right.

You know like me, it depends patches and tables. Some changes are too important and significant. If they fix the right hole glitch on Civil War, it will be very difficult (if not impossible) to get 6 or 8 billions as this time. It's not a table that generates billions if we play normally. So in this case, they must reset leaderboards, otherwise that rank doesn't mean anything.

You know too, it's not only a question of leaderboard, but a question of fun too. Civil War could be one of the best tables, but shoot the sinkhole, shoot the sinkhole, shoot the sinkhole, shoot the sinkhole... Tell me that's what they'd expected, and I'll give you one of my balls.

Hey guys, a second Civil War is starting : chose wims for the pro-reset movement, or shogun for the anti-reset movement.

But I would like a response, rather to see my requests leaving in discussions. Zen can you tell me something ? Yes, no, may be we have to study them ? Then I could see if I would play it again ?

LMAO!. Nice one! I choose anti-reset, but anti-rule-change at the same time

Ok... so if I understand... Many players are for anti-reset movement.

Zen wants to perpetuate their games over time, with platforms which can lasts several years : GREAT.

But gamers have to play as soon as tables are realised, before a new patch comes. Otherwise they'll never in the rank. What about hardgamers who play for leaderboard, not important.

Sorry I must leave, I go playin Civil War before a patch, and will try to stay first for a century

As far as I know, we have no plans to reset the scores. Like everyone said before, we've had our share of angry fans with previous resets, we don't want to do that again.
