Single player vs hotseat mode

I'm sure this has been explained before but anyway here goes.
Why would you not be able to get high scores and trophies in hotseat?
I'm down with thats the way it is, just curious.
Me and the wife play together all the time and in hotseat mode, so my some of my best scores are listed but not published on the internet scoreboards.
Just seems that they game plays the same. So why not?

Because Hotseat Mode is all tide to one PSN account. The game can't tell if the score is coming from you or your wife and it's the same for the trophies.

Okay, now that you say it out loud thats kinda obvious. I must have been thinking about it way too hard!
