  • Exclusive tables Pinball Fx/Zen Pinball- Thoughts, and will they ever be available ?

    Hi all !
Ive been enjoying zenpinball 2 so much, i never knew i was such a sucker for pinball..
Actually, all friends who came by at the weekends are into pinball right now, we watched a docu on pinball and are looking inot buying a real cabinet... Its awesome.
Anyway, i just recently found out about the differences in pinball fx & zenpinball, there are some incredible maps, Rome for example that i really would like to play, i strolled around on the forum a bit and found a couple guys who worded it perfectly :
    -------------------------------------------------
I have to say, I don't really see what the exclusive tables accomplish. I get how license related tables, like Ninja Gaiden and Ms. Splosion Man are cool little nod to their respective systems, but why make 8 tables exclusive to one system, and another 4 exclusive another system, and then have 2 others trapped on a third system? (look up Rollercoaster and Inferno)

People look at games like Halo and Little Big Planet, and decide which system to buy, but how many people each year are like, "Oh, I was going to buy a 360, but it doesn't have El Dorado, so instead I bought a ps3." 3? 5? Probably fewer. Even if you have both systems, as many of us do, did, or will, it still just divides up your scores and friend lists and creates a situation where you're pretty much forced to elect one or the other as your main system. All the division really does is punish Zen's most adoring fans, while serving to no benefit to anyone, as far as I can tell.

I agree. I mean, I don't mind having to turn on my 360 for one or two tables from time to time. For example the Ms. Splosion Man table. But there's what, 11 tables in all in Pinball FX 2 that aren't on PS3?

Then again, Zen Pinball 2 does have a large variety of tables. I could do without so much Marvel, but whatever. It's better than only having 4 tables and not knowing if I'll ever get any kind of future DLC. It's just hard not to be greedy when I find this game so fun I guess..
    -------------------------------------------------

So yeah, are there any plans to bring these tables to each others platform ?
I was even contemplating on getting a old 360 xbox just to play the other maps but that would be the definition of insanity...
I do hope at some point it will happen or else i will have to give in to the insanity !

    Bye !

    Welcome to the forums!

I understand where you're coming from. At the same time I see the business side of where Zen is coming from as well. Now there was a big discussion about why PBFX tables were not available on the PS3, while PS3 tables were covered across the platforms. I don't know how far back you went to read any past post, but the team (Zen) stated that there are still contractual litigation an red tape that impedes the other tables to see fruition on other platforms. So basically we're playing the waiting game.

Exclusive tables does entice consumers tied to one console to purchase tables. So for example, Zen Pinball 2 just released for the Wii U. Now if you're a fan of Nintendo, then naturally you would like to see a table made for your favorite Nintendo franchise like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, etc. The exclusives gives that console it's own identity. So maybe one day the PS3 will have their own exclusive from a their IPs like InFamous. Just saying that I think exclusives matter and at the same time I definitely agree that it can hinder a business. Just depends on the situation and the demand.

Yes. I already have these tables for Xbox but would buy them again in order to play in 3D on PS3. Zen would make a lot of money on people like me that are willing to double dip this way along with those who only have PS3.

I'm not sure on this but I'd think that the Xbox exclusives were something Microsoft would have contracted Zen to make. I doubt Zen just decided to make them exclusive to 360. If so the argument on whether they sell consoles is better served being posted on a Microsoft site. Complaining to Zen about it is pointless, unless you're telling Zen to turn down deals if they include making exclusives, but that would be horrible business advice.

Hmm, i truly hope at some point they are allowed to release them on ps3.
Nah, i dont want zen to turn down deals - if anything i want zen to prosper and keep creating and supporting this beautifull game they made.
My thread was never meant as a complaing against zen, the only reason i took the time to register and make the thread is to show and voice how awesome those maps are and how much i want to play them. And because i dont know how the fine print is on the deal they made with microsoft i thought if at some point they are able to release it on ps3 it would be good for them to know people digg em.

So please ! gods and lords of the silverball, please ! If i have offended you in any way shape or form... accept my humble gratitude. (and if you feel mercifull, grant me many extra balls and kickbacks)

I've been asking Zen to please release the core PBFX2 tables to the PS3. There are others out there that want the same thing.

When they officially released the ZP2 tables (Shaman, El Dorado, Tesla, V12) for the XBOX I felt it was a slap in the face to us PS3 fans. Thing is I know Zen wants to port them over. Sad thing is, We don't know if we will ever get them. I would love to play Rome, Pasha, Secrets of the deep and Bio Lab. At this rate I don't see it happening for some time. I won't buy another console just to play 4 tables. I don't care for Halo or other FPS shooters exclusive to XBOX they aren't my thing on consoles. Pc on the other hand.............

I will never buy a microsoft console. Buying a microsoft console plus paying and extra fee to play online is just stupid IMO. I'm already paying for internet service why pay extra to play online? I just don't want 3-4 systlems just to play pinball. At this rate with the new consoles on the horizon, What support will we get for ZP2? I'm not ready to shell out another $400 for system That you can't even play the games that you have downloaded already. PS4 wont allow this. It sounds like I have to pay for all the tables all over again if I ever plan on getting a PS4. PLus my entertainment is already cluttered with PS3 and the Wii for my young son. Throwing in another console is overdoing it.

Was it ever explained why the PS3 exclusive tables could be released on XBox but not the other way around? I'm sure it has to be a contract thing but I would think Zen would know how long the exclusivity is contracted for wouldn't they? If so, have they said? That would put the issue to rest.

Zen can't disclose anything about contracts in current standing. Microsoft has a hold on those said tables and will have them until the contract is up. Hush clauses can be that way and any red tape along the fine print. Meaning Zen just can't talk about that situation. Trust and believe they do want to release the PBFX2 Core tables to the PS3 and others, but the PBFX logo is under Microsoft. You already know how MS does with their "exclusivity" rights. Just look at good ole COD!

Oh and FYI, the ZP2 tables are not PS3 exclusive. Never was. The only exclusive table that belongs to Sony is Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The Xbox has 11 in total. 6 of those tables will most likely never hit the PS3. 1 table (Ms. Splosion Man) is definitely not coming to the PS3 as its a trademarked MS game. (wish Sony would get a trademarked table ) I have high hopes that we will see these tables, but until then...it's the waiting game.

Really the ONLY reason I want the Xbox tables released on PS3 is to be able to play them in 3D. Xbox is also capable of 3D yet I haven't heard any mention of bringing 3D play to Xbox. Will that ever happen?
