  • First impressions on the PS4

So I downloaded the game yesterday when it came out in North America. I was able to download all my PS3 owned tables without any trouble. (All of the tables from Marvel and Star Wars)

I am really impressed by the graphics. The reflections on the glass and table details have really been improved from the Ps3 versions,

The balls movement seems different probably because of the higher frame rate and it would be cool if Zen could provide a full list of improvements they have made.

Well thats good to know. I always thought the PS3 version was lacking compared to Xbox PFX2. Ball physics always seemed better on xbox. I hope ps4 is better.

I am VERY impressed with ZP2 on PS4. Definitely lived up to my high expectations. Tables are vibrant and so flawlessly crisp with smooth and fluid movement and physics. Really perfection.

I said that I would rebuy all tables beyond these 20 if brought over if the game was like I imagined and that is the case.

Love the scoreboard rank value for each table - genius idea.

Great job Zen and Merry Xmas!

        Changes you've noticed?

        I've noticed changes

        1. Crisper and cleaner graphics are crystal clear. U can notice all the details
        2. Ball moves faster -- bad side effect the game is harder
        3. Iron man vortex beam has been changed from 4 ball multiball down to 3 balls now

If I notice more ill post
Still haven't played all the tables yet
        But definately harder

Made it to spidey clones 5 times and was unable to lock the balls to start final wizard mode.

Did it change? Sink 1st then 35 seconds to lock the next one. and I'm assuming. That's three more ( for a total of 4 balls). cuz I locked 2 after I started the mode( which is like locking 3) I don't remeber spidey being 4 balls in doc's hole for wizard mode. i never thought spidey was hard. But I'm having trouble with trying to beat it

And if this is spidey being hard , then what will purge the world be ?! Oh no shutter to think about it

I definitely agree, Disco! This is great, but I noticed changes as well. Pretty much the same as everyone else. However, there's one thing that seem more of an error than anything.

The one of the trophies for Epic Quest is inconsistent with the PSN trophy requirement. When you're in Zen Pinball 2 looking at the trophies...the first one says," Kill 3 monsters and start Princess Multiball to earn the trophy (which was never a requirement before). The PSN has it the regular way by collecting all the Epic Loot items for the trophy.

Now I was disturbed about Dr. Strange not showing up, but I got over it fast. Still can't wait to see it though. I've been trying to force myself to earn the trophies again. I got some, but my inspiration is lost at the moment. I think it's time to just enjoy the tables instead of worrying about trophies and such. Great job as always, Zen! I am definitely enjoying ZP2 on the PS4. Looking forward to the next table.

Interesting. If that's the case, I also would like info if anything has changed. Perhaps the higher framer rate does make the game feel different. I can't tell as I don't have a PS4......Yet. Plus my tv only goes to 720 yes it's about 10 years old. But it would be interesting to see and actually play a demo version somewhere.

If there are changes, then I'm impressed even with subtle changes. Again perhaps they can go into the tables, tweak those sling shots like Deep did with return of the Jedi, make the gap between the flippers a little larger and these table would be that much more fun and challenging.

So a list of changes (if any) would be much appreciated.

Starting playing again on PS4 version. Does feel a little different but enjoying it, got my tables imported with no problems. Time to start putting some scores up.

Wow, just tried this out after spending a bunch of the PC version to get these nice graphics. Whatever AA they are using for aliasing is working VERY well here. Even the metal cylindrical lines of the ball carriers are not showing many jaggies, which they do on PC unless you use supersampling. So either something like Sony's first party TSSAA is going on or they are just supersampling it or some other mixed solution. Even on top settings with in game AA options you still get those hideous jaggies on the subpixel stuff. Of course on PC you can downsample as much as you like but still, for the PS4 version people should know this one is very VERY good looking.

Won't be getting these tables til they hit a sale. Come on Zen people have had these tables one way or another for years. Way too expensive.

And for those people still gaming on PS3 you had better look to change that. This game looks oodles better on PS4 and PC. No way I could ever go back.

Some have said the game feels harder - I'm not sure about that. The physics are more fluid and smooth.

One thing to note, I think that Zen readjust tables, modes and point values to try and keep table scores more balanced. I've seen it with Rocky and Bullwinkle from Pinball FX to PB FX 2 and I see it now with Plants vs Zombies. I have almost a billion points, 15th rank on PB FX 2 and slightly less on ZP2 on PS3. It's now certainly harder to score points, with the top scores as of now under 200 mil. It's not a bad thing, just something to be aware of. May be the case with some other tables too but I'll need more time.

I had my best game yet on Return of the Jedi (7th rank as of now) so it's not a universal thing.

Could be harder cuz for me it seemed ball moved faster , but after reading a different thread I don't think it's the ball Moving faster. i think I have a delayed flipper reaction like others have posted. I'm going to try and chand some tv settings and awe what that does

On my Sony Bravia, it has to be set to GAME mode or there will be delay. Check your manual too.

                      Good luck.

Why is the pop-up notifications windows so small? Very small text, even on large HDTV. Cant read it to see who I am trying to beat and what score I need to beat the next person.

I found videos on YouTube on how to get your old headset to work with the ps4. I have the astro a40 with the mix amp and it hooks up very easily with the optical port and the USB port. The only thing you will have to do Is change the settings once you hook up the headset and it should work.

ZP2 on PS4 looks and plays great, especially in 3D, but I am disappointed the trophies are the same.
