  • Your greatest Pinball fails.

Ya know we're always talking about our accomplishments on Pinball but seldom do you see someone talk about their failures. This thread is specifically for that purpose. I'll regale my tale of woe. This happened just a few hours ago, still fresh in my mind in fact. I had to lock one last ball on the Infinity Gauntlet table to complete the Wizard Mode. Had the ball held and ready to go. Then I made a grave mistake, I looked at the dot matrix. Uh oh, 3 seconds left, I hit it and missed the shot... A shot that I had down pat.

Then the second guessing came in, the doubt, the disbelief... The rage, but only briefly. Replaying it over and over in my head as I write this. Now I'm not the best player (definitely not the worst either, but at times like this I sure feel like it) it took me a good hour to get to the Wizard Mode, so when I fail so badly it's really disheartening. I wish my skill level was where I want it to be, where I can say "Alright then, let's have another go!" But sadly it isn't, not yet anyway, not without a lot more practice and a whole heckuva lot more patience.

    Thanks for reading.

Sounds painful. In my opinion vthe Infinity Gauntlet wizard mode is one of the hardest to reach. There are some tough missions on that table.
I personally lost to Ultimo a couple of times before eventually beating him. Once I only needed two more hits .
Also somewhat recently I played the Starfighter Assault table and had points in the hundreds of millions on my first ball and I had two extra balls so things were going really well. Then I suddenly lost all my balls within 10 minutes. I still have no idea how that happened.

I hate when that happens. Everything's going right then bam a streak of bad luck.

So I woke up this morning and on the second game I played, I beat Thanos! So that failure was short lived but it almost became another fail... Just had one second left. The funny thing is my score wasn't nearly as good as last night. Mistress Death was on my side in that game lol. Ah the elation I felt when I beat it is unmatched. If I were one to skip and frolic, that would have been one of those times.

A memorable fail was on Dracula where I lost my ball with needing to just shoot one more shot into the citadel during the wizard mode. That was after months of trying to reach it... very painful to say the least. I was also in another game trying very hard (at least once a week over more than a year) to get a billion score on Dracula and in my excitement and nervousness of getting close I ended up with a score of around 988 million... lets just say that my house was not a fun place to be in that night. Reaching Mars wizard mode after struggling for days to get past the pyramid mission, the moment was too big and I lost the balls within seconds, left with only a feeling of utter disillusionment. My most recent fail was on Dr. Strange... I just completed for the first time the wizard mode and was very chaffed with that. Realising that my score was on 700 million odd and that I was still on ball one, having lost only a few extra balls, I thought that I'll just play the easy missions and play the safe hurry-ups. Needless to say, I seriously nerved out and lost all the balls in quite quick procession, suddenly not being able to aim anymore and bricking more shots than not... again left with a feeling of uselessness even though I could rightly feel good for completing the wizard mode, but left on a score of 930mil with a billion well in sight.

Then off-course, the infamous game breaking bugs, and Fantastic 4 was notorious for that I think I was going for a top score and I was really killing it I can't remember what my score was one, but it was way higher than anything that has been posted at that point and while playing the wizard mode (can't remember the exact details) a negative-zone ball saver glitch happened and I was left with a static table with a big gaping hole in the middle.. I felt utterly powerless and I think it was probably one of the few times that I posted on the forum in an utter rage

One of my duds was last week on my now fav table Dr Strange. I was on my 2nd ball with two extras in the bank on route to beating my score of 1.6b and aiming for 2b to get in top 10. My last three balls went sdtm faster than it takes to order a pizza. There are two pegs beside the ramps that can result a sdtm just like ESB V. Im coming back again Strange.
