Zen Pinball 2?

I will start off saying that I enjoy your pinball games and I am grateful that they have been made and are very reasonably priced. However it seems as though your primary focus is the Xbox 360 and new platforms like PC and handhelds as the 360 has more tables available and they got their consolidated tables platform aka Pinball Fx 2 in a relatively short time frame.Comment

Don't worry guys it's coming and it will blow our socks off trust me. Creating a Platform to house the Tables and updating the previous Tables as well as making sure the Platform understands what you own is no easy task.
It takes time, Zen Pinball 2 is coming and you should be at ease knowing everything will move into it from your Marvel Pinballs to Zen Pinball. Lets just let Zen Flip out something awesome.sigpic

New addict that is more than happy to hear about this. Though currently I'm waiting for a lot of new games in this year of the dragon x.x. (PC mainly) I haven't bought zen1 yet because marvel was my first and they are just at an above standard and just feel better all around.
I won't complain though Zen studios is seeming like an increasingly generous developer and giving me a good reason to keep my ps3 around!Comment

Also a new addict and it would be nice to have everything accessible in on package rather than starting 2 separate games to play your favorite tables such as Epic quest, Fantastic four, Captain America, Moon Knight, Thor, Iron Man, and Paranormal.
Also any news if the tables from XBOX 360 will be available for PS3 users? As it it is I only have the PS3 and there are at least 8-10 tables I'm interested in. XBOX owners should have access to Tesla, El dorado, Shaman, and V12.Last edited by tenorhero; 03-20-2012, 09:21 PM.Comment

This sounds cool, but PLEASE PLEASE put in 1080p?
The ps3 will not upscale. The xbox has a high speed upscaler in it to make sure games don't lag if your tv is better than the game is.
Therefore zen pinball players with 1080p HDTVs are reliant on the tvs upscaler, which often will introduce lag.
I played zen pinball at a friends house on a 1080p samsung, and even in game mode, it was totally unplayable, while williams pinball hall of fame ran in 1080p and played lag free.
I have both systems and pinball fx 2 is lag free. MY tv does a better job than my friends did with 720p, but i suspect there's some small lag.
Every table that is for both platforms is currently better on 360. But there's still the core tables for ZP.
I hope i've convinced you of the importance of 1080p support.Comment

Some games are more sensitive to lag than others. the classic examples is rhythm games, fighting games, and field goal kicking meters in football games. However, a few frames of lag can mean the difference between hitting a fast moving ball and it shooting right past the flippers.
I guarantee if someone complains about zen pinball lagging and pinball fx 2 not lagging this is the reason. Zen pinball is playable on my tv in game mode, even though it's native res is 1080p. but not everyone is so lucky. I felt a good quarter second of lag on my friends tv, and it made paranormal completely impossible to play well.Comment

The game is unresponsive. It's laggy. The joypad acts in a merely advisory manner. The control is rubbish. Game reviewe…
You can see how the "game mode" bypasses most image processing (like the colour setting and even the volume in my cheap Sammy).
Most if not all FPS (CoD for sure) output at 720p. We well know how critical is the lag on such games. It would be interesting to know how they play the solo campaign on your friend's television.
Anyway, from what I know since the PS3 doesn't have an HW scaler like the X360, upscaling native 720p games to 1080p would steal computing power (even if just a small amount) already fully needed by the games. This is the reason why many PS3 games don't support 1080p. Until few years ago this has been a very long debate in the Sony PS3 forum because older HD tvs didn't have the 720p output and their unlucky owners were (are) forced to play the games at 480p (576p if PAL). So they required the PS3 firmware to always allow the SW upscaling. It never came. I am afraid there is little that can be done. But sure, Zen may decide otherwise.Comment

With my surprise it reports for my tv a (measured!) input lag of 16ms, which is amazing given what I paid for it. Also it usually have some measurements on the upscaler.Comment

And just got a new tv, and once again 720p lags. after tweaking things a bit, zen pinball demo is almost playable.
In 1080p native games (tested with spelunker hd, which i think is a pretty good test) no lag that I can feel.
Once again i implore you. if the PS3 has the power.. add a 1080p engine, PLEASE? it's nice to bypass the tvs scaler when possible.Comment
