  • Tips for Capt America

So I don't profess to be the greatest pinball player of all time, I just love it. I personally think that this Marvel Pinball is one of the best pinball games I have ever played. I am currently getting the hang on the new Capt America table. Has anyone got any tips on regularly getting the ball up the tight ramp on the right hand side? I seem to get it there on and off but for missions I would like a more accurate action LOL xx

I'm in the same boat. It's a little intimidating reading how all the wizads make these great tables seem so easy. I too love the Captain America table. As far as the right most ramp goes, I find if I hit the left most flipper right as the ball is at the tip of it. Right before it rolls off to drain. Somewhat like making the claw suacer on the Wolverine table. Takes a little practice but well worth it. Hope this helps.

What gives me a better chance at that (and more control) is if I first make sure that I catch the ball on the left flipper before I take the shot up the right ramp. The same goes for the Howler hole on the left hand side... but for that one make sure that you first have your right kickback activated as well because there is always a chance that the ball will ricochet all the way across and down the out lane.

A slower, more deliberate approach to playing has always served me well because you play with a whole lot more control.

Practice makes perfect but it is also worthwhile sharpening up your skills and technique e.g. take a look at the Internet Pinball Database for skills tips (http://www.ipdb.org/playing/skills.html), also take a look at youtube videos from guys like Hypno74 to learn from them.

Wow thanks guys, really nice of you to take the time out and give me tips. I shall also be watching you tube - What a great idea. Also thanks for the howler tip. I get particularly annoyed when I am doing the Adhesive X mission and cant get the ball into the final ramp. I am going to keep going. I find it is as much experience as technique, as well as obviously quick reactions LOL!!!

Captain America is poorly lit & just...well, Poor.

You need to gain some medium amount of ball speed coming down the left flipper side, then flick the ball gently into that lane when it's hinging on the end of the left flipper.
To be honest, i'm finding captain america to be badly lit with poor design, which is a near first for Zen missing the mark on their mostly usually excellent table.
On entering the site I sited a poll asking my favourite view. Well, that's another reason I came on here too: to moan about the godawful views we are subjected to on these mostly excellent tables. Honestly, I cannot decide whether i am Arthur or Marthur with the views of the tables in game. I used to go for 3 view on Zen Pinball but now that has worn thin. The views are either so close to the action that I cannot take in enough scope needed to judge smooth ramp and target delivery. honestly, in the decades I played real Pinball, I never hunchbacked my self close over the glass in the style suggested I would be forced into by those close views, nor did I have to stand on a stool to accomodate the Mars Orbital surveyer like far above views(along with the heavy civilisation evidence hidden away by jpl). Yet for all the many views they cant do one with a medium view over and down into the table.
Another major gripe is the lack of flashing lights to guide my next shots, useful for when my mind-rading facility is unrenderable into 64 bit.we cannot read your minds Zen. lights/ Flashing ones as way points shewing us the way to where we must next go.
add a table design that is not askew like a misty-fried junky 's idea of a fun table, bad washed out colour pallettes, A GOD AWFUL stupid shield mini-game whose creator must be fed to Jabba's 10,00 year digestion plan monster so andy Park can teach game design in the interim, to him that I still can't and won't work out because its stupid..
I'm going to write Dora's nexxtb adventure to calm me down. It's about how dora grows up a whole year, is exchabged for apekinese puppy due to Sony's losses during outage, and how the little bitch make her Move onto everyone on the next gen of consoles. it's called Dora's Street Mooves. and now she's 7 in human years(but really 15 in biarc years), she wants all 5 people whom actually bought a move countroller to come and pay her to watch he amazing street moves(Move's are liable to go missing during "performances". Don't moan about it. old Dodo will be vociferously moaning for all 5 of you.). In the new game you start her off in US aircraft carrier onshore tipi reservation in Manilla. You will be mashing that button, work your way thru hong kongs madans network, untill you as Dora finally cum out on top of everysingle penthouse suite in Kowloon... oh and there's freaky street walk mastering lessons thrown in the game with richard Simmens in between the gory bits.
SEE... Sony never learnt a thing from the outage...

I may disaprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. VOLTAIRE

That's what I do. I always capture the ball with the flipper first, before trying to make those side shots.

Wow, I agree with the comment about the shield game disc, although I am not sure whether it is a poor game or I am poor at it...

Thanks Shogun..... Have decided to have a substantial break (by substantial I mean 2 hours LOL) - See if that improves my scores. Trouble is I have a massive love for the Spiderman board and when you play one particular one so much it tends to overshadow any new or indeed old ones!

I have a massive love for the Blade table myself (hit the billion mark last week), but I was still able to master Captain America in just 16 hours. When it comes to the ball weight and speed, it's very similar to Blade's. I was able to adapted pretty quickly. It didn't take me long to complete the missions, the Wizard mode and collect the trophies.

Now if only I can master those Zen Pinball tables. That annoying ball spin issue gets to me every time.

                    Howler help

What do the different howlers do?

I've gotten as far as the third one, Dum Dum Dugan.

                      Also...

If you get it in the howler hole and hold the left flipper when you get the ball back, it will roll off just enough to flick it with the right and return it to the howler hole. works 95% of the time.

Bucky: a 30% chance of ball save on drain

Dum Dum Dugan: 4X scoring on bumpers

                        Gabe Jones: "Super combo scoring".

                        Jim Morita: Countdowns are slowed

Jacque Dernier: 30X scoring on targets (including Castle Zemo targets for up to 500K a pop)

IMO, having Bucky activated is the easy choice. He has saved me three times in a row on the same ball.

Actually, don't ask me how I came up with the 500K figure. Another tard moment from me I'm afraid. It all made sense at the time...

If you can nail the left ramp shot immediately to start the mini-game, you could be looking at 1.5 million per target. Unfortunately, this is still small beer in the overall scheme of things on this table, and I'd still take the 30% chance of a Bucky Save over a max of 18 million points.

OTOH... if you contrive to deliberately fail this mode, and lather-rinse-repeat, well... that could be yummy points.
