Those are called Slingshots, and they were specifically tuned up on the older tables to bring them closer in-line with real pinball tables. They're supposed to induce chaos when you make a bad shot.

I definitely agree with the statement about bloom. Honest I never noticed it really on FX2 until I played FX3. Still didn't notice a big change because I wasn't looking for it. But by god, when FX3 broke and I went back to FX2, I noticed so much bloom. It was really distracting once I noticed it. Even more so when I took some quick comparison screenshots and flipped back and forth afterwards.
The one minor complaint I have with the graphics.... And when I say minor I mean MINOR... Is that the main reflection texture on the ball doesn't seem to change between tables. It seems to always be the same semi-office looking reflection. Which usually isn't a big deal, but on some of the darker tables set in specific scenes, it's a bit noticable. Like on the Skyrim table.

Good. We need these posts. The game can only evolve if there is critique present.
- We felt the music could be a bit more exciting so we added a few new tracks
- The system requirement was kinda necessary for the graphics updates, but a lower asset mode is not a bad idea. Not sure if it'll ever happen, but at least it's out there should we ever want to add it in
- Yeah, we are still getting the teeth out, hopefully, we can have a serious bite soon! lol

I just wanted to give some random thoughts about FX3. I'm bad at intros.
One thing I noticed in the last update that hit Steam was the music for the mode selection/profile menus being replaced with something more upbeat. I'm personally not a fan, the old, more ambient music was nicer in my opinion. The music for the menus is generally just kind of strange to me, but I've warmed up to it. I preferred FX2's more ambient, chilled tunes, though. And sorry if this contradicts with what i said on that beta survey akoooooosss
One little thing that bugs me is the system requirement boost on PC. I have a pretty beefy desktop that can handle it no problem, but my laptop that could handle FX2 fairly smoothly at low settings chugs pretty badly when I try to get FX3 to run on it. This is the main reason I'm upset with FX2 being removed from the storefront, and I'm hoping future updates may help in the performance regard. (Like adding the mobile-version assets as a lower graphics option?)
One random thing I definitely like is how going in/out of tables is much smoother than in FX2. That's a nice touch.
And by gawd, do the tables look nicer. Especially the older ones, that had tons of bloom all over the table art and generally really harsh lighting. The ball reflections are so shiny, and several of the models do look like they got touched up and smoothed out.
But arrrrgh, this game has had some serious teething issues... I'll be honest, when I heard the game was coming out on the 26th, I was really skeptical. Because I was in the closed beta, and while it had certainly improved in that time, I didn't think it was ready for release when the date got announced. And it kinda wasn't. I do kinda blame myself for not doing more thorough testing and providing technical feedback.
I dunno how to end this. :P I'm sure I'll think of more when It's not early in the morning.Tags: None
