So we all have to type in "water" every time we want to post something and yet despite this top notch and annoying security measure there are four topics on the first page about male enhancement drugs and vitamins. Ya'll are really on the ball, Zen.

Seriously though, I use the report option every time I see one of those spam threads but they can hang around for hours and hours afterwards. Now three days??? Want to give me access to quarantine messages? I promise I won't abuse it.

I wonder if the random question is stopping more of them from popping up though. Four over a long weekend isn't all that bad for a forum apparently not being moderated over that period.

I don't really mind typing water anymore. It's just become a natural process now after over 100 posts. I don't really even mind the frequent unrelated spam that is often not moderated in anyway. I do however take exception to whatever demographics are used to target and market male enhancement products to pinball players. Everyone knows that pinball players are rock stars.

Sometimes I get bored and try other answers to see what works, but so far the quickest one is French 'eau'.

For some reason the folks of Italy, Spain/Portugal, France and Ancient Rome are all accommodated but Germany isn't. Not Poland, oddly. Nor Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Japan...

The most obvious flaw is that it seems you can have as many attempts to get this right as you like without penalty. Hardly protection against bots, is it?

I have moderated vb portal boards in the past and have had my own message board years ago and as I recall the randomness must be set and is likely currently set at 1-1. At 1-1 there is obviously no randomness to it and merely an annoyance to those of us who frequently post. It will not dissuade anyone from posting spam to this board unless it is being done by bot.

We have tried every method imaginable to wipe out these topics, super annoying. We are trying to stay on top of them and delete them every time we see them, but sometimes they can stick around for a bit. Sorry about that.

So I use the built-in 'report' functionality to report spam on a Saturday lunchtime and it's only removed around Tuesday lunchtime. Am I wasting my time using the report button?

And what language is 'aqua' from if not Latin and the weird language of cosmetics companies?

I would think its latin, but several of the new-latin languages like Spanish and Italian use the same word I guess.

Spanish and Italian are agua and acqua. Portuguese is the same as Spanish, unless you're a Portuguese-speaker, in which case Spanish is the same as Portuguese.

It's a little sad that the forum supports visitors from the Vatican City and not, say, Hungary.

No problem, but is it actually useful? Because if not I'd prefer to know that so not to waste my time. Sometimes there's more than one and you have to wait a minute between reporting them.

Back when I was modding a vb portal board you merely had to ban the IP. Eventually they will tire of having to spoof it each and every time if that's even possible on their network.
