I fully concede to Mute. I didn't even realise I wrote it that way
After reading through this entertaining back and forth I’ve got to say Cornholio made the stronger argument. I never knew the difference before either, always thinking they referred to the same thing.

On another point you’re both drastically incorrect. It’s moo. A moo point, as in a point a cow would make.

Specifically, a bang back is done as the ball rolls under the flipper, while the death save is done when the ball is between them.

on most games where a death save is possible, it's from a right outlane drain, though certain machines have posts that will allow it from the left (the "Gottlieb Death Save").

On many Data East games, the death save, if timed correctly, will not even give you a warning, just do a short and sharp nudge up and right as the ball strikes the left gutter. This is why they got banned in tournaments. on most other real pinball games you will probably get a warning or two from one, as more force is required.

The bang back will not actually give you a warning at all if done correctly, because the machine hardly moves. it does a newtons cradle like transfer of force from your hand to the machine to the ball. It can set off a slam switch, though.

On Deadpool it seems necessary to do else the table plays that much harder. I also noticed it on Wolverine where Wolverine cheered you on when you got it right... now it is basically impossible.
It's as easy as it ever was on PS4. Logan told me I was clever so many times in a recent game it went straight to my head which I now can't fit through the door.

I actually gotten quite proficient at it, and it has become one of my favorite things to do in the game.

Ive managed 2 or 3 saves in the last couple of days. I find them hard to pull off, and they should be. Otherwise the game challenge would be ruined. Passing between flippers works very well for me though.

I'm currently working on some of my pinball games. And I usually play one table at a time. Sometimes I'm trying to get the trophies of the same table on Marvel Pinball (ps3) / Star Wars Pinball (ps3 and vita), Zen Pinball 2 (ps3 and ps4) and Pinball FX3. It's always hardest to do them on Pinball FX3 for me simply because I cannot do death saves. I found it slightly easier to do with the sticks instead of d-pad on Pinball FX3, but I can't simply change the nudge button between games, because my fingers go to the d-pad automatically each time I want to nudge the table
I can't do it with a keyboard, but on the controller it works quite fine. There are tables where it's rather easy (eg. Son of Zeus) but others are hard for me, too.

    Hi
I am in the process of making a box that will mimic a real pinball machine with nudging.
Nudging is part of playing pinball. At tournaments everyone nudges and without it you would NEVER win

I actually didn't know that these 2 (death save and bang back) are different things irl and thanks for the informative posts So I was talking about generally saving the ball from either left or right outlane. And I can confirm that I got this trophy by saving the ball from the left outlane drain. And I know a friend who got it from the right outlane drain. So I guess Zen didn't put this difference in the game, cause it says "bang back" in the trophy description and this trophy can be obtained from both outlanes.

    Thanks again
Actually a bang back can be made from either outlane, though typically the left. To my knowledge, death saves can only be made from the right outlane due to the geometry of the outlanes on some machines, namely the right side is higher than the left which allows you to get a bounce over the drain. I'm not aware of any machine that has this geometry reversed so it shouldn't be possible from the left outlane.

    Thanks to you both.

I wasn't trying to be an ass (my back and forth with @cantankerous), but trying to be informative. I'm glad my points got through.

And yes @emboliformis, it seems to be the case that Zen wasn't aware of the 2 either.

    Hey guys,
it was an interesting and adventurous reading!

We are working on the physics in the game update by update so in the future it may improve more but a big change in it is not on the table right now.

We understand and know this could take time to adapt but we deeply believe that this is the way this game is meant to be created for you!

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
