There's a reason I bought an Xbox one X, and there's a reason I want to play certain Games on my OLED.

I'm saddened to hear that it seems neither ZenStudios nor FarSight before them seems to take the brands they've been given seriously.

I was saddened when all my great tables I've already bought from FarSight are no longer supported, and will never get proper 4k support, and even less thrilled that ZenStudios have taken the baton, and instead of running with it promptly buried it in the sand.

Whilst I can't speak for Zen I think they'd agree it's not that straightforward. Although the engine is capable and those PC assets exist it's not easy to inject those into the current files and infrastructure. Here's just a shortlist of considerations:

    - Engine performance, asset re-compression and internal quality control
    - Repackaging every table file (pxp), combined assets with platform flags or entirely separate? Both approaches have drawbacks.
    - Re-submitting content to Microsoft (and possibly licence holders)
    - Post-release support and maintenance of an additional platform (bug fixes etc.)

Each one is a time consuming & costly exercise, plus there's a new generation of consoles on the horizon to consider.

I’m big on the notion of “to each their own,” so as someone who seems to weigh having the absolute best graphics setting possible as much more important than gameplay I can see why you’d be upset. That said, I would easily bet that the vast majority of pinball fans think gameplay is by far more important than being able to max out the resolution/HDR capability, etc., and if you’ve played the Zen versions of tables that were also on TPA I’d think it would be clear that Zen is taking the license seriously and not buried it in the sand as you said.
I just got my new 4K OLED set, upgrading from 1080p, and, like you probably do, I wish all the games I play had enhanced versions for Xbox X. But it seems irrational to me to correlate a game not having 4K/HDR support with a developer not taking their game/license seriously. Like I said, I get the reason you’re upset, I just don’t understand the leap in logic that that’s caused.
One quick recommendation for you, stay far away from the VR version of Zen’s game. While I’d normally recommend it to anyone who enjoys pinball for the VR’s capability to recreate tables in a 3D environment where you can actually clearly differentiate the different levels of the play field, I think you’d absolutely hate it because in order to achieve that, and with hardware limitations, the graphical fidelity had to take a hit. For those more interested in recreating the feel of playing real pinball though, it’s hard to beat.

The same goes for the PS4 Pro version. When will we ever get to see 4K on that machine?
