  • Cabinet usage of PFX3 - to steam or not to steam

I'm curious what the prevailing thoughts are on running PFX3 for a home built cabinet on steam are. I've run into some nag screens from Steam, issues with Steam messages when trying to launch the game from command line, and problems when using my Steam account on multiple computers.

I can think of a few options below, but I'm curious how others run their cabinets?

    1. Run steam and pfx3 in offline mode so they don't conflict with your primary steam account and gaming station?
    2. Create a steam account dedicated to the pinball cabinet and everything in online mode?
    3. Don't utilize steam and instead use pfx3 via the the Microsoft store?
    4. Some other solution I'm not thinking of?

Hi daltorias! Thanks for your question! In MS Store, PFX3, there is no cabinet mode. You can't use 1 Steam Account in 2 different computer. However if you play online in one computer and offline in the other, you can use the same Steam Account.
If you want to play offline, please follow these steps:
    1. Disconnect the desired device from the internet
    2. Start Steam in offline mode
    3. Highlight Pinball FX3 from the Steam library and press the right mouse button
    4. Select Properties
    5. On the "General" tab of the popup window select "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." button
    6. Type -offline in the text input field then press OK
    7. Start the game from Steam

Also, if any other user has another idea, please share with us!

    Hope it helps!

      To the OP,

I'm having issues as well. I got a cab code and it seems I have to keep re-entering it. This is a huge pain in the butt. Working offline might be a good answer here as it might get around some of these problems. I personally have never really cared for online play to begin with and I'd actually prefer not to have it in my arcade cab.

      Hi Chili,

I have a similar issue to the OP. I tried to follow your instructions here with my computer but I don't see the "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS" button that you're referring to. I'm running Windows7 is it different in that system?
