Kind of frustrating to not know which lane or if either kickback is activated? Is this by design?

Accomplishments in real life
1. Rolled a star wars machine................ie played over 99 levels and rolled it back to level 1.
2. Rolled Nintendo punch out, several times, same quarter.
3. Played an entire game of dragons lair and completed it and won while blindfolded.

Ok, so I figured out the kickback thing just scoots back, but now I wonder after almost 100 games and only achieving a 2x multiplyer once how in the hell do you do it? I know it says run the ramps, but jeez how many and which ones cause after 100 games one would think I could figure out the magic combination. Also, there seems to be a speed bug that makes your ball for seemingly no explainable reason just start going super fast.Accomplishments in real life
