Bally favorites The Party Zone, Black Rose and Attack from Mars hitting Pinball FX3 i
We used an original operators manual and it lists the black lightning bolt flippers so we decided to go with those.
Nope,
The manual uses part 20-9250-7 a plain black Williams flipper. The Black Lightning Bolt ones are 20-9734-7, this is not the same part according to the manual as you claim.
You can see people's confusion about this part here
Can y'all not look this shit up?
TL;DR ... not using the manual parts, and claiming you are.
if it indeed lists part 20-9734-7, then we have proof that it was shipped that way in europe.
if it lists part 20-9250-7, that is in fact a normal length flipper, which is what i always saw on location in the USA.
I'm inclined to believe zen that their European black rose manual mentions the lightning flippers, because the black lightning bolt flipper does in fact have an official part, and it has to have been developed for that game, since no other game before then had them.
i also agree that it's too easy with the normal flippers, having played it in real life.
btw parts list here DOES list the lightning flipper.
Regardless, we can't have regional variation. And as you are a european company, preserving the game as shipped in your own country is not wrong. But i would like a picture of that manual page, to settle the debate once and for all.
btw. suggestion. in remaster mode, make the pinballs black, as that's something williams originally intended to do. (they're cannon balls, ya see)
i know there are multiple manuals, as here's a picture of a European black rose manual cover.
The following games are confirmed to have shipped with lightning flippers in the USA (and verified by manual).
1) Fish Tales (yellow flipper part 20-9734-6)
2) Bram Stoker's Dracula (Yellow flipper part 20-9734-6)
3) Dr Who (yellow flipper part 20-9734-6, but only on the lower flippers. the upper flipper is standard, confirmed from manual)
4) Popeye. (white flipper part 20-9734-5, upper flippers are mini flips)
Additionally, the following two games are known to have had them in Europe only, according to the internet.
5) black rose (black flipper part 20-9734-7, but most likely only the lower flippers. PLEASE take picture of euro manual)
6) Whitewater (white flipper part 20-9734-5, but most likely lower flippers only. someone with a euro manual please take pictures)
I have played ONE hurricane with lightning flippers on it. it was the easiest hurricane i ever played. all others i've seen have had normal flippers, which is what it was shipped with.
These pinball machines were all US developed. By that argument, Black rose should have non lightning flippers, except in tournament mode, which should have the shorter flippers for increased challenge.
But Zen studios is in Europe, so it's arguable that they should use how the games shipped to THEM. Which most likely was with the lightning euro flippers.
[...] I thought Zen said that there will be four more tables released before the end of the year?
It's Chrismas time. Santa won't inform you about his exact plans and the proper fulfillment of your wishlist too.
Zen is always good for a surprise. Just remember last year, 12-12-2017....
Who knows?
