  • New Black Knight license question, Stern is making it.

Well, as a big surprise, Stern will be making a new Black Knight theme pinball, Black Knight Sword of Rage.
HE'S BACK! The iconic pinball character, the Black Knight, returns to entertain a new generation of pinball players with the third game in the Black Knight f...

Its a license you guys acquired, the WMS license, and i hope to see Black Knight and Black Knight 2000 reproduce one day. What happen the day this table will be digitalized? Unless they lost it and nobody is aware of it atm, Farsight i think still got the right to do Stern table? Wil you guys have the right to do it cause its a WMS license table, but its at the same time a table created by Stern? Its a real headbanger!

I doubt they will answer, since revealing the terms of their contract could nullify it.

FWIW, lately when Stern acquires a license they have been acquiring to make both physical and digital versions of the table. In other words, Stern is able to contract a company to make the digital version for them.

Well, its weird that Zen got rights of WMS table from Scientfic, and Stern also got the right to do it. Stern cannot turn to Farsight to one day produce it digitally, im thinking perhaps one day we will see Stern tables with Zen? Or Stern could go to a new developper, but at the same time, the digital license of tables are owned by Zen.

Im just wondering now if at least Zen is having the right to simply do the first and second Black Knight.

Licensing is so fickle. I suspect Zen only got the rights to existing Williams/Bally tables and not future ones, but have no idea. They may have only gotten the license for classic tables that cut off at some year/make/model so we may only ever be able to see remakes and never see a version of Indiana Jones or any of the tables we are hoping to see since they have never spoken about the terms of the license.
