  • Star Wars pinballl for Nintendo Switch

Star Wars pinball for the Nintendo Switch. I have owned the game now for a few weeks and thought I would do a write up for those interested detailing the pros and cons of the game. The game comes as a digital download or also as a cartridge, which I purchased. I was able to find it for 15 dollars and got all 19 star wars tables for it that are already available within the Pinball fx3 game so purchasing tables I have previously already purchased on the PS4 came at much less of a sticker shock and playing on the go, during lunch at work using my flip grip was ideal. Most would likely assume it is the same exact assortment of games on Pinball fx3 merely dressed up with an overly star wars theme and that assumption would be correct, but there are some significant changes that I will detail here. Gone now are the challenges section of the game where most of us spend a fair amount of time in 1ball, 5 minute or survival mode upgrading our various powerups. Instead now is a chain of challenges that tediously must be gone through that run the gambit of flipper counts, survival, exceeding a specific score in a short amount of time etc that now unlock 1, 2 or 3 holocraun shards?? I'll be honest, I can't remember what the hell they are called, but the point is that these unlocked thingamabobbers are used to now upgrade your various powers minus rewind..........ya, that's right rewind is gone. Gone too is a leaderboard. Oh, sure it has leaderboards for each of the challenges it throws at you showing how you placed, but there is no clickable leaderboard that allows you to peruse at your leisure the various scores and to date I have not found a way to find your classic score.........ie the collective score of all of your classic matches. Gone too are also those pesky cheat scores that plague the other systems since this game is not cross play, so ya, to that and also boo to that as the level of skill seems to also be gone. I have only had the game for a few weeks and in that time only maybe 5 unique tournaments have been posted by zen where I have one twice and during the week that I was working 12 hours a day only managed a second. I fully intend to win the next two, so. Most tournaments seem to get around 200 players or more, but they just don't seem as committed to winning as on other systems. Did I mention no survival?? You can no longer set up survival challenges when hosting a tournament. Anyone who knows me knows that this singular oversight pissed me off. I LOVE SURVIVAL MODE and promise to advocate for it's addition repeatedly until such time as they either ban me or add it in a future update. I mean, it's in the game. Some of the challenges in the game have it and it's even called survival, but you cannot set up a game with it for some stupid reason. All in all it's a decent game and well worth the 15 I paid. To those who already own it, the Nintendo does not allow the same amount of characters as Sony's PS4 and I can now be found on that system as Hoosier_ D.
    Accomplishments in real life

    1. Rolled a star wars machine................ie played over 99 levels and rolled it back to level 1.
    2. Rolled Nintendo punch out, several times, same quarter.
    3. Played an entire game of dragons lair and completed it and won while blindfolded.

Adding to this........................this past weekend servers were down again. I know this issue has been addressed and supposedly going to be better in the future, but at the same time my xp level which was 20, almost 21 reset to level 0 and made me start over. Just saying, kinda sucks.

Seriously???? You guys made this and released it...................I'm only asking why now, in this release do you have a function called survival, which we have come to believe is a mode where you play to accomplish the next goal within the time limit and if you succeed you get a higher, more challenging score to hopefully achieve....................so then we get star wars survival mode which is nothing more than 3 minutes......................that's it, but hidden within the game, within the various challenges you are forced to play in order to max out your various powerups is a challenge that functions exactly like traditional survival mode........................SO WHERE IS THE FRIGGIN SURVIVAL MODE IN THE REST OF THE GAME? OH YA, IM YELLING NOW, BECAUSE NONE OF YOU WANT TO ANSWER ME.......................I've been patient, wondering. I was also respectful, posting to your other sites.........................you know, just asking........................SO FRIGGIN ANSWER ALREADY. You guys sporked the release. For real. Survival mode, in the form that you have already established in Zen Pinball 3 is used all the time. You guys use it all the time, when you post tournaments. It's a favorite that people like to choose when making tournaments, yet, in star wars pinball for the nintendo switch YOU CAN NOT SELECT THIS AND WHEN ZEN POSTS TOURNAMENTS THAT SAY SURVIVAL THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN 3 MINUTE TOURNAMENTS......................................S O FRIGGIN FIX IT ALREADY AND MAKE IT WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WHEN IT WAS RELEASED OR RENAME IT GAYASSED3MINUTE MODE......................you know, or something similar, but.........................being serious here.................you guys could f'n respond when people who buy your poo and support you for over 10 years on every single platform, ask you a simple f'n question.

        Hi cantankerous--!

Glad you are getting to know Star Wars Pinball on the Nintendo Switch! 15 dollars, good deal!

Let me answer a few things:

        - Yes, this game is built a bit differently, instead of the regular challenges we made this progressable career mode.
        - We decided to remove Rewind from the Force Powers to stay true to Star Wars, as there is no time altering in this universe
        - Your cumulated score should be the 'Force Score' you can look at it if you into a table where you can select 'Single Player', 'Hotseat' etc. and browse the leaderboards there.
        - I'm investigating why Survival is not an option in Tournaments.

Thanks, sorry for missing this topic!

Thanks finally for responding, I honestly appreciate it Sir. While investigating why it is not an option that can be selected while starting a tournament please also investigate why it does not function as anything more than a 3 minute tournament please. Thanks.

Also noticed an unusual amount of zen tournaments with regular rules allowing no extra balls then realized during the tournament set up for rules there is no option whatsoever to allow for extra balls or numbering the amount of balls or turning on or off this option, so this should be fixed as well. I mean, what is the point of having "regular" game mode then not allowing a person to earn extra balls?

Update please. I know the world is in turmoil, but as many of us are on lockdown, and at home, it would be nice if you guys could at minimum update the progress of your findings into the issues outlined above, and if you intend to do anything to fix it. Also, like is currently going on in the Zen tournaments, with 5 tournaments running concurrently, it would be nice to see this added to the nintendo star wars pinball. 2 tournaments for two entire weeks is a bit long. Run 5 with two running for 2 weeks and the remainder running at a much shorter time..............maybe a week to mix it up some please.

Do you guys even moderate this forum anymore???? I feel like Im talking to the ether. Star wars pinball was released and you guys all pimped it and sent out advance copies to all your reviewers and not a single one of them, who likely never played Zen pinball once said the survival mode does not work........................I tell you, and then a month or more later someone responds, that they will look into it....................you know, cause, maybe I am mistaken..................maybe I don't know how survival mode is supposed to function..................................now, it's way longer...................I don't even give a poo at this point if you intend to fix it, but one of you could respond what your findings were...........................not that I will ever believe anything other than my own findings.....................IT DOES NOT WORK and only functions as a 3 minute mode, as I have said previously, many times............so, how about being kind enough to respond? Ya, I get it, you guys are locked in, and apparently when you guys all go offline on friday, not a single one of you ever checks that the server, which WILL NOT BE WORKING, is working..................IT WONT BE. IT HASNT NEARLY EVERY WEEKEND FOR A MONTH, but hey, who the hell cares when your off the clock right? I want an answer....................the release is sporked and you guys are now, either going to patch it or not.......................it's an easy answer, but you should give it. I want to know, the next time I invest money whether Im just taking a crap shoot or not, buying yalls poo......................Do I really have to list all the poo I have bought from you guys, sometimes on multiple occasions? I want you guys to at least acknowledge the survival mode is sporked and say one way or the other if you intend to fix it. Period.

I think Im actually going to lobby for change related to the expectations of those who purchase games, that they, the creator, are at minimum expected to provide the promised minimum. That if it contains a survival mode, one should be able to expect the same tried and true mode and not a newly revised and redefined mode, that was made up on a whim, dictated by financial concerns..................you know, if you buy a toaster, it should toast, and if it doesn't one should be able to take it back, without issue. Im tired of continuing to pay, and only expect, the minimum, and when the product fails to live up to it's own claims sit back and wait, patiently, and hope, perhaps, maybe I'll be lucky and a patch might fix the issue. I think perhaps, legal matters might be necessary to facilitate change, because it's become clear at this point, months later, that this is an issue that is only important to me, and not you, the creator of the product.
