  • Saving local highscores

    Hello,

I just got a Acer A700 a week ago and I'm pretty impressed of the quality of Zen Pinball on that device, it's almost as good as on the PS3. I'm hoping that my tablet will get updated to Android 4.1 later this month, so I'll have to reset the tablet. How can I save and restore the local highscores for the tables?

Local high scores are stored in the profile, which is in an inaccessible area on these devices – it is in the local cache of the game, which means there is no way to backup this info.

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but does the device have to be completely reset, or does the update just install without affecting the local cache (which contains your scores)?

Have you enabled Open Feint to store scores there?

The information I found was, that a reset would erase all apps and its data, so the device will be in a state like it was completely new. Since this is my first Android device I don't know if that's really true, or if some portions of the data remain. I'll find out when I the tablet gets updated

I haven't registered with Open Feint yet. Will using Open Feint just put my scores into some online Database for comparison with other players, or will it really save and restore my local scores (kinda like the online space for savegames on PS+)? E.g. if I had 2 tablets running Zen Pinball and I would register the same Open Feint account on both tablets, would it sync/combine the highscores of those two devices? It would be fantastic if it would work this way.

Just in case someone's searching for the information, here's what I found out
            - a reset deletes the local highscore
            - local highscores are not synced/saved via Open Feint
            - only highscores and achievments gathered while logged in at Open Feint are saved
            - gathered achievments are synced back to a new installation of Zen Pinball via Open Feint

I would not bother with OpenFeint. We're going to ditch it soon because it's poorly supported by its new owner and causes all sorts of problems. When we do, we'll put a new system in to replace it.

                Does that include iOS?

                  Zombie thread!

Had this same question so digging up this zombie thread in hopes of finding out if things have changed over the past few months. My phone is being replaced and am going to have to install Zen on the replacement and was hoping I'd be able to backup/restore my local high scores. Any way to do so? ::fingers crossed::
