  • Time frame for immersive full-screen mode?

    Hello!

I just upgraded my LG G Pad 8.3 to Android KitKat 4.2.2 and I have enjoyed immersive full-screen mode in many games, readers and other apps and it's awesome. It's so practical and beautiful to have the whole screen visible and not a big ugly bar with on-screen buttons that's taking up a huge amount of space on the bottom of the screen.

I searched for a thread on this subject here but I only found one in your other forum, the one for CastleStorm. If I missed something in my search, I apologize. There you said you were planning on making it happen by putting it on the to-do list which was in February. I don't know if CastleStorm got immersive mode yet, but I know it would make many pinball players very happy if we got it to ZEN Pinball HD either way.

So how does the time frame look regarding immersive mode on your to-do list for this game? Is it a high priority case? I feel it's perfect timing right now because of the new Star Wars tables, another huge update of sorts.

I also believe one would play better with a larger screen, especially those with 7-8" tablets. I don't know if it's true, but it seems like a very popular feature in other games and if nothing else it looks fantastic, so I think it should be prioritized. That's not my call to make though, but I thought I should ask at least And if other players feel the same way about immersive mode in ZEN Pinball HD, feel free to comment on this topic of course!

+another - I've been manually hiding the nav bar myself using "GMD Hide Soft Keys" on my old N7, but would definitely like this to be an app feature.

      (Root Required).

I've also installed "immersive always" through Xposed Framework.

You could try uninstalling the Navbar app and re-installing.

I've had this issue previously with Zen and another Navbar app which did work, but then didn't after an update. I ended up ditching the app and buying GMD hide soft keys (which still works after deadpool but requires root).

Other than that - your best bet is to contact the navbar app developer via email (or by review comment if no email).
He's your best bet to getting a fix.

Edit - here is the email address for your apps developer.

                    Any time mate.

No you won't have to pay again.

Once you purchase an app through Play store, it keeps track of your transactions, and allows you to uninstall / re-install and even load the same app onto multiple devices with the same Google account.
(I buy something and download it on both my phone and tablet.)

Hope so - most developers on Android will give you a prompt response, and if asked nicely, tend towards helpful.

You do find the odd one though.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. Since I started this thread I've been testing different apps and I've had some good results, but after Deadpool, a table I don't think I'll spend a lot of time on, I also get that grey bar. So if ZEN could get us an answer about implementing immersive mode for real instead of these complicated apps, well, that would be great news! And without being an expert on the subject, like I said, I've seen people with far less resources with immersive mode in their apps. So without stepping on anyone's toes, or trying anyway, maybe it's just a question of actually putting it on the agenda and do it? I feel like the Android board is struggling to have their voice heard overall.

Maybe release it in time for the Walking Dead table? I think that table will be very interesting and I'm really looking forward to it, especially with immersive mode of course. After chasing the number one spot once again on Star Wars: A New Hope (one of the most brilliant tables as of late), I feel like I need a new table. The last six tables or so, except for A New Hope, haven't been my kind of tables I guess.

I did ask if immersive mode would ever be an option on android and got this reply - "Not sure - I will forward your request to the team, though!"

                              +signed

It is just about the only thing I can think of that this game needs in terms of full Android games compliance.
Reason I say that, because, other than Samsung devices (meh), pretty much every other android device by Motorola, HTC, LG, Sony, Cyanogen, etc, have migrated to software nav keys from old physical nav buttons.

Also a higher rate of devices have or are going to be updated/released with Android KitKat or higher, (compared to very SLOW adoption rates of ICS or Jellybean within a year of their release dates) so immersive mode will become more and more a need rather than an option for many entertainment apps, especially as Android L approaches.

KitKat adoption is very real, only 10% of passing Jellybean devices within only 8 months since its release. This is good, and it's important since SDK/API 19 or higher, is required for immersive mode.

So, the time is now to implement this and perhaps other things that Google Play Games/Services deliver that you guys think would fit the game. (which unlike immersive mode, GPG/GPService APIs are platform agnostic and are on 90+ percent of all android devices. Maybe you can add Google Play Games Cloud Save for "LOCAL HIGHSCORES", I bet this would be a low priority task on your list though or not worth the time since All Time Highscores are more important and GPG takes care of that bit, which is GREAT)

Currently, I enjoy ZEN Pinball HD [and Pinball FX2 on Steam] very much, and adding this feature will make it even better.
