How does the new google play friends system work?

soooo... do we just add people over google+ or whatever?

can we get a friends list started..... cause even tho they said they will merge them or whatever automatically... I have no friend leaderboard as of now.... so my swarm friends arent showing up ? or maybe they havent downloaded update? Either way lets start a new list !

i did download update... and i logged into swarm.... but i have no friends showing still

It might be that they haven't moved over to the new system yet.

I've started up another thread for folks to use when re-introducing themselves in Google Play. Mapping their old swarm name with their new Google+ ID presence.

It seems that many folks had l33t usernames on Swarm that in no way correspond with their Google+ Profiles. I don't recognise anyone who I added on swarm in the new GPG name list. They all look like strangers to me.

That's just an unfortunate byproduct of the migration, correct?

I would also imagine that the Swarm icon will be changed to the GPG "controller" icon once the migration is complete.

Yeah, it is. You can change your name, but Google has pretty strict rules about what kind of names you can use.

Changing your name is restricted. Adding a nickname isn't. See https://forum.zenstudios.com/showthread.php?t=6652 for a possible workaround.
