  • Mac OS issues after every update/purchase

    Screen Shot 2014-11-12 at 22.34.24.jpgHi,

I really love Zen Pinball and own the app and quite a few tables on several platforms.

However, the OS X version has an annoying bug that forces me to redownload the application and all my purchased tables after every update and new purchase. Needless to say that this process will wipe my high score tables.

After installing the updated application and purchasing one of the new tables, the table download seems to be successful at first. However, I can not launch the table and restarting the game results in this error message:

"Zen Pinball2.app" is damaged and can't be opened. Delete "Zen Pinball2.app" and download it again from the App Store."

This error has occurred after each of the last three application updates in Mavericks as well as now in Yosemite.

Judging by the game reviews in the Mac App Store this seems to be a common issue.

I would really like to buy and play the two other new tables but right now, I am too annoyed by this reoccurring bug.

    Please help!

I'm having the same issue. Everytime I log out and try to log back in, even a few minutes later, i get the same message of it being damaged. i've already purchased 4 games for my Mac and i can't even play them without having to take the time to download zen pinball first, then afterwards, i have to download each game again.

Every update causes all previously downloaded games & scores to be lost on Macs

This has happened to me for every single update to Zen Pinball. I own every game, and lose all of my high scores going through this process, which is very tedious. These games are great. But, considering that, you would think that Zen Pinball would be able to do an update that works. You would also think that they would make sure it works before putting the update up at the App Store. I've reached the point where I really don't even want to update anymore. If you look at the reviews at the App Store, many of them complain about this problem. It can't be good for business.

I am suffering the same issue with OS. It is very frustrating that all your high scores get wiped and having to download the tables again and again is a real pain.

It might be worth trying to open Gatekeeper settings located in "System Preferences > Security & Privacy"
and set "Allow applications downloaded from:" to "Anywhere" and confirm by pressing "Allow From Anywhere"

Also, try the suggestions listed here if you haven't already: http://forum.zenstudios.com/showthre...ll=1#post54602

If you do have to uninstall at any point and want to keep your scores, this file should be saved before you uninstall the game, and then copied over the fresh installation to restore your scores and profile info:
            Macintosh HD / users / current_user / Library / Containers /
            com.zenstudios.ZenPinball2 / Data / Library / Application Support /
            ZenPinball2 / profile.dat

I still have to delete and reinstall all the tables every time. This happens every time you put out new tables. Maybe u might what to fix this ongoing problem before you ask your customers for more money.

Cant believe this is not fixed

How come you still have not managed to fix this. Still happy to take peoples money but can't find the time to fix the problem with having to delete then reinstall when ever you make a new purchase. Don't point people in the direction of having to save files as we shouldn't be having to do it. Just fix it!!!!

I found the fix for this issue on Macs. Instead of downloading the update, manually move Zen Pinball from your Applications folder to the trash. You will be asked for your password to do this. Then, install the new version from the App Store. You will have the updated version, all of your games intact, and your high scores. It won't crash when reopening, or ask you to download again.
