I bought a table last week and have been trying to download it for days. Keeping getting a message about an error has occurred. I sent in an email requesting help from the game itself but no response yet.

You might try updating the app in the App Store; if you're attempting to download a new(-ish) game and your app is out of date, it won't download properly. Try updating first, then re-attempt your game download.
