    BUG: PS4 Slowdowns

First of all: WOW! Love the new menu-structue, love all the new options and also love the revamped GFX on the tables. Well done guys (and girls?)!!!!
At the moment I do have 2 issues on the standard PS4 (non Pro) version:

    * Antman isn't available yet for import (I have 67 out of 68 tables now)
    * I get slowdowns and framedrops on some tables. I've seen these on Jaws & Pasha. I've uploaded a video to youtube:

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Allthough the quality isn't great, you can see that quite often the ball doesn't roll down fluently and also the image stutters. The weird thing is that the problem stops as soon as there is a multiball and returns when the Multiball is done.

    Thanks for reporting!

Ant-Man is confirmed to have problems with the import. We are working on fixing this.
Did you see any pattern or place it seems to happen? To be honest I couldn't really see in the video

No patterns to be quite honest. I had the same on paranormal yesterday. Leaving the table and coming back didn't solve the issue. It's to bad that the quality of the PS4 recording is this bad. I will have a look if I can make a video with a camera. It's quite frustrating, as these tables are really unplayable this way,
As for Antman: We'll be patient: We have 67 other tables to play at the moment!

I had noticeable frame drops on Guardians of the Galaxy (Xbox One) when the ball texture changes to the "striped" version.

I do have the problem while downloading or importing the tables in the background. After installation i do get a short stop while playing the game.

Hi, Thanks for thinking with me
Unfortunatelly this is not the case here, as 67 of 68 tables are already downloaded & installed

Just wanna say I'm experiencing pretty bad frame rates on Jaws on PS4. It's especially jarring since I've never really seen anything like it playing zen pinball for years now. Seems to be just on overall slow frame rate and doesn't happen at a particular time. I haven't spent much time on this table because of this.

Also the views seem to be messed up on Jaws as well. I always play on view 4 but on Jaws it's the same as 2. I have to go to view 7 to get what I normally use.

Anyway loving the new game. Good luck ironing everything out.

                Here is a better video:

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

When the ball bounces back from the left slingshot on 1:02 you'll see some hickups when you keep your eye on the ball.
This is not the worst case I've had. Sometimes the framedrops were worse, which sucks if the ball is near the flippers.

You can also see it at the end of this video

Whe the camera goes back at the end of the levetation ball session, you also see the ball stutter....

Besides the slowdowns on Jaws, I'm getting an annoying loud fan on that table with a Standard PS4. What's so demanding on this table? On the other tables the fans are barely hearable.

                      Dear McLovin,

I have narrowed it down quite a bit: These hickups ONLY happen when playing in VIEW 3. And also mainly when the ball comes down quickly and the view also tilts downwards quickly. Pasha is one of the tables that's affected the most.

Could you be so kind to ask one of your colleagues (or maybe yourself?) To have a go on Pasha in View 3. Try to shoot the spinner to active the ball-locks. I have the idea the situation is worse when the lights dimm on this table. Please try this a couple of times. Sometimes there is no problem, when when the issue starts, it's very noticable.
I've been playing (and experiencing) this on a PS4 Slim with the 5.01 firmware.

I'm currently performing frame rate analysis on PC and Pasha is one of the problematic tables.
On Pasha the pacing issue is caused by the two torches and the dynamic shadows they cast on the railings on the lower section of the playfield.

                        PASHA-MB.jpg

Frame rates will vary depending on hardware, on mine the top of this playfield is over 110fps and the bottom is 38fps when both torches are in view. This dramatic variation means that overall play is not smooth and consistent when the camera moves around the playfield.
Presumably the issue is similar on PS4 and the fps is temporarily dropping below 60 and losing v-sync.

There are several tables affected by frame pacing issues due to light sources and overly complex dynamic shadows.

Jaws - Candle lamp: Thin metal bars on the lamp glass makes these shadows overly GPU intensive

                        Jaws-MB.jpg

Dr Strange - Flag bunting: The flags are animated and cast detailed animated shadows underneath due to the right side candle.

                        DrStrange-MB.jpg

There are other examples but these are by far the worst offenders and most likely to cause v-sync breaks on the consoles.
On PC a baked shadow option would be a massive performance boost for weaker hardware as lower shadow quality settings are not a solution.

                          Thanks for the investigation guys!

The shadows from the torches/candles seem like valid suspects in this case.

Will get this info to the right people.

Please do. It's about time that this issue gets solved. Just let your developers play Pasha on view 3 on a standard PS4. They'll notice...

@McLovin: Any news on this subject? It noticed the issues are still there in v1.04 on the PS4.
Have you guys been able to reproduce this issue?
