Default Tables are not centered — does this not bother anyone else?

    Hi there,

After the launch of Pinball FX3, I made a post or a comment about some of the tables not being centered. The new Hercules table (unlike Adventure Land, which does seem to be centered) is also closer to the left side of the screen than to the right, and by quite a noticeable measure. I find this irritating and I never did get a satisfactory answer about this issue. Is this intentional (if so, I'd like to hear from Zen WHY — it would ease my irritation if I knew there was a reason behind it). If it's not intentional, I wonder if it can be fixed. Perhaps it doesn't bother other people, but it sure bothers me.

I love that Son of Zeus table and the imbalance in the table is the only sticking point for me.

I hope I get a response from Zen this time.

    Thank you.

(Oh, Xbox One, by the way. If that matters.)

I looked at what you were talking about and after getting a screen capture that was at 960 pixels wide I drew a line down the center which is at 480 pixels and this is what it comes up with. It's clearly not centered and to be completely honest, I never even realized it and frankly, no, it never bothered me until you mentioned it and now I will probably not ever not be able to not notice it.notcentered.jpg

pssssst..........over here..........*In muffled voice* The secret, random word is water. Don't tell anyone.

I was so very excited when I saw that my XP level had gone up to level 41 and then so very upset when Mc Lovin informed me that It looked like a glitch, but, hey guess what, I'm level 41 and the rest of you are only level 40 or less so suck it bitches.

I'm ashamed to say that I measured with a ruler to my tv screen.

But yeah, that's the thing: once you know it's off, you can't help thinking about it. And frankly, I don't see how it could be intended. Surely you can expect a pinball table to be symmetrically centered, flippers dead center, on your screen. And here's another thing: some tables that were fine in Pinball FX2 are misaligned in Pinball FX3. I'm thinking of one or two of the Aliens tables — I forget which in particular. It's a Pinball FX3 thing, and I think it should be fixed.

This is because there are two inlane rollovers on both sides, and on the right there is the plunger lane which pushes the whole layout to the left if we want to keep the table itself at the center of the screen. Usually this is not a problem, since most of the tables have only one inlane on the right.

    Thanks for the answer.

Actually, quite a few tables are affected and I'm somewhat surprised that uncentered flippers didn't bother your designers.

If the plunger lane throws off the symmetry, I would have thought that having the actual play area and flippers centered and the plunger lane sort of tacked on unsymmetrically at the right would be the lesser of two evils. But I'm sure these things were tested and played with and I guess it doesn't bother other people as much as it does me.

Ima amateur photog and photoshop enthusiast and am now surprised I never really noticed the uncentered tables and yet do not see they impair the play experience, not to me at least, cause to me symmetry is key.untouchables.jpg

That's because many real pinball machines are the same way. There is no rule that the flippers have to be dead center in a pinball machine. It's probably the reason why most of us had no idea what you were talking about.

I'm out of this discussion. I only found it interesting because I had never noticed how uncentered some tables are due to whatever reasons, whether it be the different added lanes or not, I just never noticed and wanted to see for myself, that being said as i never noticed, I also never found an issue with it. Later.....................btw my photograph is called the untouchables...............some of you old guys might get it.

It's another argument in favour of people being able to define a custom camera setting.

Take a look at the Alien vs Predator table. The table is not even straight. I want to repeat this: this table was not like this in Pinball FX 2, so I don't believe that it is supposed to be like this.

On MATCHUP mode,I've noticed that from an automatic ball launch, the ball hits the bumpers, then goes straight back out of play A LOT!
TOURNAMENT mode, and it's less frequent but I'm sure there's other tables, where the physics are not quite right...i.e Ball veering UP the table!?!

Whether it's Alignment issues,I'm not sure
