Turns out Zen mode is hilariosuly easy for fish tales.

1) catch ball off of plunge with hold trap.
2) shoot long cast loop from trap while it's still lit.
3) hold trap off of THAT
4) repeat 3 more times (4 after you tour the captive ball once)
5) whack the hell out of the captive ball to start rock the boat, light extra ball, and multiball.
6) use multiball and ball saver passives.
7) whale on that captive ball until the ballsaver runs out.
8) then try and play multiball for real, it scores very well when doubled.

i'm not even that good and i broke a billion and got many extra balls with this strategy. no super jackpots even!
you can also hold trap ramp shots as well.

Yeah, they made it easy to trap the ball. All you need is to have the left flipper raised and the ball will just bounce of the flipper and post and then settle. Then you can do exactly what you described.

new strategy. after lighting all captive ball, start multiball normally. then whack the cpative ball to combine rock the boat with an active multiball. when it ends, restart multiball with captive ball.

hope zen has better rollover detection than farsight does.

Well, my rollover i just did now was detected. 996 superscore from that table. pretty sure someone who choked less and abused score multiplier wizard power can do much better.
