Default Vote your favorite pinball designer

I think it would be a good idea to know the name of the guys who are behind each table design so everyone can vote his favorite and find similitudes between some tables.

Ivan Nicoara : Thor, Iron Man, Mars, Wold War Hulk

Imre Szigeti: Moon Knight, Blade, Biolab.

Zoltan Vari: Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Paranormal, Secrets of the Deep, Fear Itself

Mate Szeplaki: Spiderman, Epic Quest, The Avengers

Peter Grafl : Fantastic 4, Infinity Gaunlet

Viktor Gyorei: Captain America, Sorcerer's Lair

    Agoston David: Captain America

    Thomas Crofts: X-Men, The Avengers

    Zoltan Somorjai: Pasha

    Tamas Stephen: Rome

    Balint Ats: Sorcerer's Lair

I vote for Zoltan Vari ;-)

I have to go with Imre Szigeti. He knows how to create some wicked lighting effects in his table designs.

    Ivan Nicoara

All his table designs I play constantly. Those 3 table are in my top ten for both Zen and Marvel.

    Thumbs up

Blade, Moon Knight, and Pasha designers are pretty much the best.
Damn, Imre did Biolab TOO? Holy crap balls.

Eh, I can't choose, especially since some of them have only designed one table. Sure, Blade and Moon Knight are great, but I love X-Men, Captain America, etc...So I can't really pick.

Yeah scratch my vote. Is there a vote for all the above? If so all the designers are really good.

I Agree, but for example Ivan Nicoara likes to build tough tables as Thor and Iron man and Zoltan Vari is for fast play tables (Wolverine and Ghost Rider)

I remember that many members compared thor to iron man, this comparison is logical when you know that they have same designer

True. Iron Man and Thor are both in my top Marvel tables. All I can say is I love tables that require accurate shots and these to do need them especially in some of their missions. MARS too. All tables I really enjoy.

I can't pick because I really don't want to play favorites and I haven't actually played any of the non-Marvel tables yet. I had no idea there were that many different designers though. Do we know who is designing each of the new tables in the Avengers Chronicles pack? That could potentially give us some insight as to how they might play.

Hmm I like all the Tables but if I where to say pick one it has to be -

Imre Szigeti: Moon Knight, Blade, Biolab.

Moon Knight is still my favourite.

So the guys who did Pasha and Rome havent done anything since - does that mean they no longer work for Zen?

That would be a shame - they were good tables.

edit - Zoltan Vari is obviously a fan of the 18 ball bonanza! Someone tell him to stop it...

    Ivan Nicoara for sure...

Not only did I really love Iron Man from the first 4 pack against my own shock. But I did again too with Thor; as that ended up being my favourite table from V&V...

I guess I like the tough Love...

Thanks, bro! Based on that then I'm mostly looking forward to the Infinity Gauntlet and The Avengers. I loved the Fantastic Four table (Peter Grafi) and the Infinity Gauntlet table is a dream come true for me. X-Men and Spiderman (Thomas Crofts and Mate Szeplaki) are probably my two other favorites. They both have a really great flow about them so I'm expecting good things from The Avengers table.

No problem, it was fun looking at the game play videos and barely making out the names of the designers before they started playing the tables.

Peter Grafi ! -- if he's the one who did Fantastic 4... didn't expect to like the table as much, was way surprised .... the flow is intuitive, progressive, and smooth... yet so much going on on the table.... a lot of fun and my favorite design of all tables by far before the new Avengers Chronicles pack . .

Really happy to see post that he designed Infinity Gauntlet as that table is the one I am most looking forward to in the new Avengers Chronicles pack... can't wait

I loved Fantastic 4 until the mega Human Torch glitch was discovered.
Dont' think it's a Grafi mistake anyway.....

Well, Moon Knight is my favorite table, but I'm not so hot on Blade, and downright dislike Biolab. So I guess I have to go with Viktor Gyorei, as both Cap and Lair are tight.

Runner up: Mate Szeplaki - Two solid and innovative tables under his belt.

You too think Pasha and Rome are among the best tables ? Like I was saying on another topic, we never had a single tournament for those, but well, maybe one day who knows...

I can't find it. All I see by the gameplay videos and overhead images is just the "all rights reserved" "property of Twisted Pixel" type stuff on the bottom left of the table, which leads me to believe that it was probably designed collaboratively with Twisted Pixel and Zen, I don't know. I don't think any of the designer, music, animation, etc... credits are present on the table?

Definitely Ivan Nicoara. I cant describe what kind of feelings and frustration his tables have made to me.

It's weird seeing people's actual names here instead of the names they go by.

Splosion Man was "Deep" (Peter), same guy on F4 and Infinity Gauntlet.
    Imre = Emeric
Zoltan = VZ (he also did V12, Shaman, Tesla, El Dorado, SFII, R&B, Rollercoaster)
Mate also did Earth Defense, Ninja Gaiden, Inferno, and the original design for Biolab and X-Men (I think)

I'm not sure offhand who did Excalibur. Might have been Emeric?

I'm going to have to go with Szigeti.

Biolab, Blade, and Moon Knight are my favorite tables from each of the 4 packs. That said, I appreciate and enjoy all the designs Zen has brought us.

If life's really just a game, it was designed to be played co-op.

I was waiting to answer this until Avengers Chronicles came out so I could play them a bit, then decide. After playing for a couple days, Imre Szigeti still gets my vote. Moon Knight and Blade are in my top 5 all time favorites, Moon Knight being number 1. Biolab is in my top 10 and also was my favorite table before Zen and Marvel partnered up for Marvel Pinball. Oh and Excalibur is my all time favorite FX1 table. Going by that, definitely Imre Szigeti.

If I could pick a second, it would be Peter Grafl. Fantastic Four and Infinity Gauntlet are visually phenomenal and both have a great flow to them. I wasn't a huge fan of Mrs. Splosion Man but the main things that bugged me about it were part of the game it was based off of. All the annoying quotes and flashy bright colors, it just wasn't for me. I'm not blaming Grafl either. I played Mrs. Splosion Man (the game) so I know those are all elements from the original game.

That being said, I still have to give props to all of them (the designers) for their outstanding work. I've never had more fun playing an XBLA game. I easily get more enjoyment out of Zen's Pinball than I do out of most retail games I play. That's something, and that something will keep me coming back for more.

The way I see it, almost every single pinball table has its unique point that worth to mention. Some tables has more than one, these are the extraordinary, the top tables.

    My favorites are:
    - Theatre of Magic - John Popadiuk
    - Addams Family - Pat Lawlor
    - Tales of the Arabian Nights - John Popadiuk
    - Monster Bash - George Gomez
    - Jurassic Park - Joe Kaminkow, John Borg, Ed Cebula
    - Spider-Man - Steve Ritchie
And many more, I could go on all night

My first ever tables I played on was the F-14 Tomcat and High Speed, around 1988, when I was 6 years old. My father put a chair in front of the pinball machine, and I had to stand on it, because I wasn't tall enough to see the playfiled

So the inspiration came from my childhood I think. The homage I feel towards these machines made me to follow the traditions and create pinballs for an other generation, like mine was back then.

I can definitely see The Addams Family influence in Infinity Gauntlet.

Crikey! You were 6 in 1988! I'm starting to feel old...

Heheha, I was only two. I'm starting to feel young again.

If I had to split the difference, I'd have to go with Szigeti. For his consistency, more than anythin. Even if I enjoyed another table in a pack better, his always came in second, n he really hasn't made any of the tables I dislike.

However, if we're not splittin hairs, it'd be a tie between him n Grafl. Fantastic 4 n mars are my two most favorite, n infinity gauntlet is my fave in the new dlc. Mrs. splode, is my only issue in your portfolio. It feels forced - creatively... Just to be honest.

Vari would prolly be after them. Fear itself, is quite clever, which I'm all about. It doesn't have the cohesive synchronicity of my other favorites, but it def doesn't disappoint either.
If life's really just a game, it was designed to be played co-op.

LOL! You and I are the same age. Although, I wasn't introduced to pinball until I was 9 (Rollergames and Robocop).

Both tables that you mentioned are available at my local amusement park, which has a classic arcade.

After some playing the Avengers Pack
I must say that i confirm my vote for Zoltan Vari

I really like Fear Itself, in my opinion the most original and addictive table.

I dont think Fear itself its the hardest table of the pack. I find it tough but not frustrating.
Among the other things I really like the magnasave feature and most of all the short ball saving when hitting special targets.

Finally Fear Itself has no killer sidelanes like the Avengers table, i hate them.

Ps: lots of sound samples are the same as Wolverine, and guess who designed that table? ;-)

    Vari and Szigeti.

Vari: Fear Itself and Tesla rank in the top 5 for me. Fear Itself might be #1. Time will tell. I rank the great ones with my desire to return to them after the novelty of a new table wears off.

Szigeti: Moon knight and Blade are also excellent tables.

But I also really like Cap. America, Sorcerer's Lair, Mars, and Fantastic Four.

Though it is difficult to make these kind of judgement calls because, with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 tables, they have all been solid tables.

Default Request for info from Zen staff

This thread made me curious. So I went and did some digging and tried to find info for who designed each table. This thread already has some very useful information and I love that you've been putting the little tag on each table with the designers on it. Only problem is, there of 5 tables I simply can't find any info on. It doesn't surprise me too much considering they are (as far as I know) the first 5 tables you guys did. But if anyone at Zen Studios could possibly shed some info on these 5 tables (who designed them), I would really appreciate it:

    Speed Machine
    Agents
    Extreme
    Buccaneer
    Nightmare Mansion

Again, if someone at Zen Studios could please tell me who designed these tables, I would really appreciate it.
Wizard Modes Completed: Buccaneer (1-6-11) SotD (1-20-11) Agents (1-24-11) Biolab (3-31-11) MSM (10-8-11) SL (10-12-11)

Older thread, I know, but was interested in this one. Have to comment although it is a wishy washy one. Like most I have like 15 "go to" tables that I seem to keep playing forever. Every single designer listed has done at least one of them, as Pasha and Rome just happen to be on my top 15 list as well as Castlestorm and WWrampage.

No wonder I am a fan of this game.

h, I can't choose, especially since some of them have only designed one table. Sure, Blade and Moon Knight are great, but I love X-Men, Captain America, etc...So I can't really pick.

    I like Moon Knight
