To bad I won't have a Wii u for quite some time. Good for those that want it though. Also looking like the Wii u will need its own category separate from 3ds soon.
Love the fact that you can see the dot matrix on the gamepad![]()
Defo an awesome step for Zen, Nintendo reps in the Community new & old will be over the Moon with this news.
Now I just need to find a way to get myself a Wii U, one does wonder the possiblities this opens up for Nintendo Exclusive Tables.

Oh my.....A SMASH BROS TABLE?!?!?! Dude I would totally fall over from pinball orgasm (whoops..can I actually say that?) I mean that would be really sweet, yet really difficult to pull off. I honestly don't know how a Smash Bros table could do or what you can do to achieve anything. We have creative people here in these forums, so I know someone can conjure up something.

I love the Wuu. The controller is awesome. Being able to flick games back and forth from the big screen to the little one is ultra-convenient.
I'm interested to see how well this version does vs the other platforms. I suspect Miiverse is going to sell a lot of copies of this game. It really is the twitter of the gaming universe now. I can't believe how ubiquitous its adoption has been among Wuu users. I already use it far more than Facebook and Twitter combined. (As much as I adore twitter.)
Some questions!
Can the controller do portrait mode?
Will this version be 1080p?
I notice none of the launch tables involve the "Xbox 8". Are those tables ever going to be freed from the Microsoft continuum to show up on the Wuu or the ps3/Vita?
Inquiring minds definitely would like to know. Good question!
As of right now porting exclusive tables over to other platforms isn't in the cards right now, but according to our community manager, Barbiebobomb, the team definitely knows how badly fans want to play every table that may be exclusive to one platform. Hopefully one of these days we'll see it. For now, Xbox tables are staying on Xbox and PS3, WiiU, and other devices will have theirs.

I love my new Wii U, and I will have a look on ZP2 for Wii U !
But, these questions need answers from Zen Studios:
- 1080p ?
- Portrait mode on the Gamepad ?
and more important :
- similar politic as the ZP2 PS3/Vita version : Pay one platform version and the other is free for WiiU/3DS ?
![]()
I'm no expert but the ps3 and vita versions are exactly the same I believe where as the 3ds and Wii u versions will be totally different. The Wii u is an hd system and the 3ds although nice in visuals is not and some things have to be cut back just a bit to work. These differences will keep them separate. Even the shops aren't combined as of yet.
Correct! There isn't a cross compatible scenario here like PS3 and Vita. 3DS and WiiU eshops are 2 different entities. So no, what you purchased on the 3DS will have to be purchased again on the WiiU version. I know I'm purchasing them all again and I have no problem with it.![]()

Indeed and not to mention, the Cross Buy program for the PS3 and Vita was formed by Sony themselves to help boost the sales of the Vita. Nintendo will need to form a similar program for Zen to be able support that notion.
I doubt we will ever see one, since the 3DS gets really high sales as it is.
I don't have the specs for Wii U yet, but it doesn't sound like there will be any sort of portrait mode for the gamepad. There won't be cross buy, as I said in another thread (and as Rafie mentioned above), the 3DS and Wii U eShops are totally separate.
Is there a playing on "Gamepad only" option?
Since the Wii U's unique feature is switching between TV and Gamepad!
Last question. Based on working on ZP2 for Wii U, which platform does ZEN think is the most friendliest and supportive?
Wii U eShop, PSN, or XBLA?
I need a Wii U thats why LOL
What about Rollercoaster and Inferno appearing on non-iOS devices like the Wuu and Vita?
They are chance for an exclusive Nintendo Plateform table based on a game?
Looking forward to it!
I'd assume that the game can't come out until the big December DLC update is out. Which very much hopes that firmware update is soon. My eShop money is currently waiting to be used.![]()
The game come this week or next week?
LOL those are Zen's only 2 options. This week or next week. Well nothing is definitely coming this week. I doubt anything is coming next week either. Zen normally announces their plans for definite launch dates a week or 2 before it releases. No worries. We'll get something soon. We're all waiting for this release to happen.

Well I really do hope it goes smoothly, I just got a prepaid card just to get it.
If there is any chance for a Nintendo exclusive board - I do suggest Super Mario Bros, Kirby's Dream Land, or Metroid. (Or all three)
My reasons being there's been pinball spin-offs for all three franchises. (I'm excluding Pokemon...)

I am a Wii U owner and read about the release of Zen Pinball 2 on the E-Shop, hopefully this month. I didn't know much about Zen Pinball so I started looking around, found this forum, downloaded Zen Pinball HD for my Razer Maxx and love it. I'm not going to buy any tables to play on my phone because I would much rather play on the GamePad.
Based on the blog that Barbie linked to in the first post, it looks like we will be able to "try before you buy" all of the tables, which I love because even though I may like the theme of a table, I may not like the mechanics of it. I'm just basing the pricing I am expecting off of the other platforms, but I am hoping the $1.99 per table is something we are looking at on the Wii U. If table packs or a launch sales provides even better value then I will probably add even more.
Can any comment on the price structure at this point?
Although I am very excited, I can't help but express that I am a little disappointed in the delay. Not that it is huge, but all of the Wii U owners have been let down by release dates being moved for a variety of reasons. Pikmin 3 moved to 2Q 2013, Rayman Legends Demo wasn't available at launch, Nintendo TVii not available at launch and then when it was released in December it was still missing key elements of functionality.
My concern over this is that I can't really get a feel of what is causing the consistent delays. Being a new console there are always a learning curve for developers, but even the manufacturer seems to be having issues making release dates. Is that the issue we are hitting, or is Nintendo proving to be difficult to work with as a third party developer? My hope is that we are looking at the first issue because that will resolve in time. If 3rd party companies find it difficult to work with Nintendo, then it will obviously mean less entertainment for the Wii U owners.
I'm not really looking for a reply to that because you never want to throw a company you are working with under the bus. However, if someone on the inside could provide a percentage of confidence that Zen Pinball2 would actually be in the E-shop in January 2013 and perhaps when in the month we could expect it (1st half, 2nd half) that would be fantastic. Either way I really hope to add Zen to my program of time wasting
So glad I got the Black Deluxe so I have the extra memory for downloadable games.
Considering that this game is pretty much a port of the PS3 version. I assume it will follow the same pricing as well, which is $2.50-$3.00 a table and $10 for table packs (4 tables).
My best bet is that it's Nintendo themselves. Zen has also had difficultly getting content approved in a timely matter for the 3DS. It's been like what? 6 months since the Zen Pinball 3D and Marvel Pinball 3D released out on it and we're still waiting for the first round of DLC to release. Ok, that isn't as nice as I was hoping but still isn't bad. I suppose if they are $3 each and a set of 4 costs $10 that is a bit of a savings. Guess we will just have to wait and see, which brings us to the next issue.
That is really disappointing. I know that is just a guess as we are all on the outside looking in, but the story that has been spun for the past several years is that developers were shying away from the Wii because of its lack of processing power. Now one has to wonder if there is more to the story. Hopefully everyone can get on the same page and start taking my money.
Not necessarily. Zen Pinball 2 is the first game of its kind on any Nintendo system (free platform download with paid DLC) so we're working with Nintendo to make sure there are no issues at launch. It's a first for them, so we're doing what we can to make sure everything goes smoothly, even if it means delaying a bit.
Well, that makes me feel somewhat better. I'm all for getting it right the first time, even if it takes longer. I know with the TVii feature it was delayed and then when it was released it was sub-par, which makes people wonder what the delay was for if they didn't get it right.
Another software company received the licensing to a board game that I love and it has been absolutely pitiful. After a failed launch we are now 8 months later and the product is still in beta and in my opinion pretty much unplayable on most machines.
One question that I did have with regard to the Wii U version. Is there a multiplayer online feature which would allow me to play with a friend online in the "Hotseat" style or do you just see their high score and try to beat it?
Well I think the Wii U will have the process go a lot more faster. 3DS was new to all of that DLC stuff. Wii U isn't like the Wii or 3DS set up anymore it's probably closer to the App Store and ahead of XBLA and PSN in terms of updating and patching.
I heard that the updating or patching a game has no costs or fees unlike on XBLA and PSN.
Why would that been needed for online? I could see local multi-player using the TV and the Gamepad, but to be honest I thing the Hotseat of taking turns after each lost ball seems to make the most sense. I think it would be cool to be playing with a friend and on his turn getting to watch the table as he/she plays, maybe with the ability to text in game.
But for now I would just be happy to see a release date that is true.
I was mostly talking about online multi-player where the other person is not in the room. Or are you saying that I would play on the GamePad and my online friend would be playing and his table would be showing up on my TV? Whoa, that would be interesting, but I doubt I could keep an eye on both at the same time.
So will the Wii U game be just the 8 tables available for 3DS and share leaderboards? That's why it's cool having the PS3 and Vita forum one and the same. If not and Wii U is getting the full Zen 2 then issues and tables that won't be relevant to half of the group. Questions about updates, tournaments, new tables that one platform may never even see would be confusing as well.
So if they're the same great, it works well over in the Sony forum. If they're different I'd have to say I'm for splitting them up. Because we do it that way for the Sony machines would be irrelevant in that case and, IMO, poor logic since A doesn't equal B in this case (Shout out to Proffesor Higgins, VCU Logic and Reasoning 101, without whom this post would not have been possible.)
I've looked and some of the reviews and table layouts and even though I am a big Marvel fan, I think I am going to focus on these: (I'm basing the availability of the tables on what is listed in the blog that Barbie posted at the head of this thread)
The Zen Classic Pack with Telsa, Shaman, Eldorado, and V12. Then for individual tables that interest me I like Epic Quest and Excalibur.
I'm a big Spiderman fan so I will probably find myself looking at it during a dead period waiting for the release of the next game I'm interested in.
I know that Sorcerer's Lair and Paranormal are highly rated by the community, but I have very strong anti-occult beliefs so I'm not really comfortable with those.
If anyone has a serious recommendation of one that they really love please post or message me so I don't let one slip passed.
I would strongly consider most marvel tables as I seem to find those the most fun. However don't forget you will be able to sample all the tables so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. I've yet to truly find a table that wasn't good made be Zen. Also if you have an android of iPhone you can download Zen from the shop and try sorcerers lair for free. It's a free table offered on both systems. I like it even though we share the same beliefs. Paranormal really isn't that bad either. It's more weird then anything! As far as I could see there is no ghosts or stuff like that. Just weird science if you will. If anything I had more of a problem with Ghost Rider for my beliefs!!

Good to know about Paranormal. Sounds like it is more of an X-Files theme. I'm looking forward to playing the different tables when we get it. I've been playing the Android app, just wishing it was a different table that was included.
Message me if you would like to add each other on the Wii U.
I would love to add you...........if I had a Wii U. I just have a 3ds and android atm! Funds won't be there for quite some time for the Wii U. I do hope you enjoy it when it comes out though and return to give us your thought about the tables you choose. Also if you get only one marvel table I'm really enjoying the Avengers on my phone. Totally different then any table!
Paranormal explores the unknown in general. From the Bermuda Triangle to Mythical Beasts (Jersey Devil, Chupacabra) to even ghosts (the haunted house). However, the table shouldn't affect your anti-cult believes. Zen just took the bizarre and clumped it all together in this table.
Zen's come along way since those first four tables and except for nostalgia you may not like them as much. V12 and Shaman are two of the hardest tables out there and none of those four offer the depth of later tables. I personally also don't like Ninja Gaiden. Also the last set of Avengers tables,IMO, are the weakest. I really like Hulk, Avengers is good, but Fear Itself is my least favorite Marvel table, followed closely by Infinity Gauntlet.
Best tables: Fantastic Four, Excalibur, Plants vs Zombies, and Street Fighter.
The best route though is to get them all and then you can compete on the proscore leaderboards. That's what keeps me coming back.
i agree it is going to come down to personal tast like for me i can't wait for th aventures tables to come out. and since were on the topic of old school game that would make for cool tables i would like the see legend of zelda become a pinball table i got so many ideas for pinball tables i don't know where to begin lol.
I was looking in my eshop yesterday and saw that zin2 is in the comming soon list part of the eshop
feel free to add me in the wiiverse its FanOfMK20 and you can allways find me on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/#!/DerekColeman.
Well, the list for the e-shop update for 1/10 was released and no ZP2. So assuming January will be the month it is released we have 3 more scheduled updates (1/17, 1/24, and 1/31) where it could show up. The way things have gotten so quiet all of the sudden, I think there are issues of one type or another that no one has a solution for.
I'm sorry for sounding negative Barbie. But when there is a lack of information people tend to fill in what is unknown to make sense of what is known. From my stand point, there is very little on the Wii U that interests me. I have Nintendoland (which I love but would be so much more fun if you could play multiplayer online) and Super Mario Brothers (which I just finished on Sunday) The games that I was really looking forward to are Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Pikmin 3 (which was already delayed)
I've always enjoyed pinball and I have to say have really enjoyed what I have seen that Zen offers. My problem is that I don't have a PS3 or an Xbox, and my PC runs Windows 7. I don't have an iOS device and my Android phone is issued from work. So the only platform that would let me give Zen Studios money is the Wii U. I made a gamble on going to the Wii U because I had a Wii and I could keep my games, but Nintendo has not been known for attracting 3rd party support. I had hoped that it would change with the Wii U and I know it is far too early to draw any conclusions, but the eShop has been woefully bare of any new content for some time.
Since we don't have new content to use, I find myself trying to be content with information on what and when new games are released and that information is just about as scarce. So while I appreciate your request for me to be patient I'm sure you can see where I am coming from.
How are things progressing in this delay? Is the distribution of free to try and purchasable DLC that challenging to figure out?
I totally get why you'd be impatient, I am too! This version of our game is going to be really awesome, I'm so excited for all the new features (especially the gamepad stuff!) and all of the community interaction that the Wii U allows has really gotten my attention. With any new console, combined with a new type of game (free platform download with paid DLC), it's not surprising that we're seeing a delay from our originally planned launch. It's a learning experience for us here at Zen as well as for Nintendo, but don't worry, you'll be playing before you know it![]()
I really appreciate your response Barbie. I have already planned which tables I am the most interested in and I am organizing the Table Guides so I can study them to get an understanding of the tables beforehand (which is probably making the excitement problem worse) Honestly, what is worrying me the most is that 3rd party developers are finding Nintendo difficult to work with and that is at the root of, not only this delay, but the many others that we are seeing. I think the Miiverse functionality will be a lot of fun. I was wondering if there is a method of having a "friend" list in ZP2 that lets you know when he/she is online and you can set up a multi-player game or if you rely on the Wii U friend system?
So I'm happy to hear it is coming, but I would also be happy to know that it was just mildly aroused. Hopefully sooner than later.
I'm pretty sure you will be able to see your friends online with it. Even on the 3ds you not only see what they're playing but what table as well. Trust me you will have a blast playing it both by yourself and with friends!
They've actually been great to work with, like I said, it's just a completely new experience for both parties. I'm not entirely sure how the friend list will work within ZP2, but I know it will be like the PSN version where it notifies you of your friend's score and encourages you to beat that score.
That is the most encouraging thing that I have read about Nintendo in the last 2 weeks! I've seen in some of the videos on youtube a message pop up about the score of a friend, I was curious to know how the game knew who your friends were. For those that have the PS3 or Xbox flavors, do you add them within the game or does it poll the friends that you have added on your system?
Also, Barbie my Wii U is still showing you as a provisional friend. Is your adding me also coming soon?![]()
Will here be a Worldwide Tournaments now that it is possible on Wii U?![]()
I saw that the moved the vid. over to the eshop so i am getting the feeling we will see it in the eshop soon now.

I saw a tweet that caught my eye. It had a link that directed me to the Europe Nintendo site with this page.
It is in Dutch, but on the right hand side you can see "Releasedatum 24/01/2013" which I would imagine is 1/24/13.
I'm not taking this as fact since we haven't heard anything from Zen about it, but thought I would pass it along until we do hear something.
Zen Studios Twitter:3DS DLC is still coming. Just finalizing the Wii U version and we should have our release date any day now![]()
http://blog.zenstudios.com/
Here that...good news!![]()
Ok, color me concerned. I know we have all been told that January is the target release month for ZP. But I just came across this.
The vague January had turned into a vaguer Q1, which could mean anytime between now and March 31. Throw us a bone Barbie, what is going on? We know it is coming, we know you are finalizing things, but is January still a possibility?
I wouldn't worry too much. Since they don't have a confirmed release date they kinda have to put Q1! I seen that as well
It's pretty common practice for websites to put a release quarter, rather than a date if they don't have one. Just as a general rule, if a dev hasn't announced a release date, outlets will just throw it in whatever quarter it's expected to drop, so don't panic. We've had a few instances of sites completely guessing a release date for our stuff, so if you see a date somewhere else, and not anywhere on here, our Facebook, blog or Twitter, there is a good chance it's either bogus or just a vague time frame. The only time you might see a real release date elsewhere before you see it here would be Major Nelson, and that's just because he works for Microsoft.
As for Wii U, be patient. We're getting closer but we still have a few loose ends to tie up. We wouldn't just release it and not say anything, I promise. Take your excitement for the game and multiply it by 10--that's where we're at. We really want you guys to play it, but we want it to be as flawless as possible.
I'm not at all worried about that happening at all. The past few weeks have been less than pathetic in the eShop with regard to Wii U offerings. This week I don't believe there was one single release, not even a new video.
I'm only asking this because I know how things can change. You starting working on a small issue, that turns into something bigger, then a concern is raised that makes something you thought you had figured out have to be rediscussed. I think we all understand that happens. On Monday you (I assume it was you) tweeted that a release date was hoped for this week and yesterday it was tweeted "any day now." I don't want to upset you by asking this, but are you still feeling that way?
Oh right, of course we aren't expecting the game to be released that soon. Knowing that in the next 48 hours there is a strong possibility that we will know the release date is very reassuring. Just speaking for me, even if it is released passed Jan 31 I will be happy. I can always write another poem to pass the time.
