Beat Your Music Issue (Steam Edition)

I've encountered a weird bug of sorts. If I've edited a song (BPM, offset, etc) and then try to play it without closing and reopening KB, I get a lot of phantom/false positive misses. Sometimes I'm even getting attacked during the cutscenes between sections. I think that the track data/enemy placements and the visuals aren't in sync with one another. Any advice?

I was sorely disappointed that my reason for purchasing it turned out to be what I would call an incomplete feature. Is there any intentions in adding proper beat detection so the fight is actually designed based on the song? Or is this feature going to just stay as the music is simply something to listen to during a fight with specified parameters? The only thing that the imported song seems to determine in the game so far is fight length.

I understand why the BYM feature is so "streamlined" on console, but I agree that on the PC, it should be way more robust than it is.

Assuming unlimited development time and money, and no need to recoup development costs, sure, it would work well on PC.

I posted this 3 days ago however & still haven't gotten a response, so somehow I don't expect they have any plans in doing so. Currently I'm not even using the feature because it just don't work properly under the current method. I have a review on Steam about it already:

I feel a little insulted by your reply. I've supported this game A LOT, and I think you made something great with the game itself, but BYM just doesn't work that well as it is. I would rather you make more songs and sell them with proper beat maps then "give" us a mode that promises so much yet doesn't really do that great of a job.

I'll agree that BYM could work better - it's an a weird halfway position between a flimsy tool that requires no work on the part of the user and a powerful tool that requires lots of work by the user. Some people are upset that it doesn't do everything automatically, and some people are upset that it doesn't give them power to tweak every detail of the script. The former is impossible because it results in crappy tracks, and the latter is unlikely because the costs of making the tool and adding Workshop support are significant, and KickBeat isn't exactly neck-and-neck with DayZ on the sales charts.

Also, don't forget that I don't work at Zen, so don't treat my responses as official customer service or anything.

Ya, I understand. I'm not a game developer or anything, but I AM all too familiar with fans assuming that just because they want a feature in a game, that all a developer has to do is snap their fingers and it will magically appear. So I apologize if I came off the same way. Thanks for your honest response.

I still love me some Kickbeat. If I could independently fund such an editor as we discussed, then I would gladly do so, but unfortunately, I'm not that well off myself.
