Default Android L Preview Compatibility Issues

Yep, before you even say it, Android L is a Developer preview only. I know.

As a dedicated beta tester, I decided to load up Android L on my N7 2013, and see what state my favourite games are in.

I have successfully loaded The Pinball Arcade without issue.

When I try to Restore Purchases in Zen Pinball HD, the screen "You are about to download a large amount of data" displays, then when I tap Continue, the screen animation lags, and the app crashes.

Any idea why this might be happening?

    Hey again Barbie.

One of the dudes on Pinball Arcade Fans (where you have multiple threads about Zen BTW) reminded me that he's still having issues with ART compatibility.

I've got another thread on here that discusses ART support, but the last time it got a reply, I believe the response was that ART was a tech preview and no support would be offered until it became official.

Bearing in mind that ART is the default runtime on Android L (that is, no Dalvik JIT at all), you might want to tell the devs to push support for app recompile up the list a bit.

He seems to think that the issues I'm having with restore purchases could be related to that.

For the record, I didn't install Android L over the top of my Android 4.4.4 ROM. The app was downloaded fresh from Google Play after the L installer did a factory wipe of my Nexus 7 2013. So the issues where the apps are "upgraded" to ART as part of the boot sequence would not have been done here.

The crashing is likely specific to your N7 - which should be fixed in the next update (but let me know if it still doesn't work for you).

As for ART and the new Android, we will perform a full overview on our code base to make sure it will be compatible.
This will have to happen before the official release of this new system version, so it will be scheduled soon.

If it's possible to include me in the beta testing for ART support, please consider me available.

I'll have to re-install Android L to verify, so if you can ping me once it's done, I'll reinstall and see how it runs.

Is that the build that implements the Google Play Games Framework?

YEP! Just sign into both Swarm and GPGS to migrate your scores.

I've reinstated Android L, and the issue with restoring transactions is resolved. \o/

I can now begin further testing with Zen on Android L. I will post any further observations here to save your devs some time.

I can successfully use Zen on Android L.

I installed fresh from Google Play.

I'd say the Dev team can rest easy for now.

I did note some strange horizontal black stripes on the pop bumper skirts on some tables.

This was happening before I started testing Android L for the record. Check out the thread "Dr Strange Graphics Glitches" for screenshots of that table. It was this release that introduced the problem.

I have just sent you an email with screenshots, but it bounced because of size. I have added a link to a Google Plus Album with all the details you should need.
